Breaking news: Carlito released from WWE

WWE.com has announced that Carlos Colon (Carlito) has been released from his WWE contract as of today May 21, 2010.

According to WWE, "Carlito’s termination was due to his first violation of the WWE Wellness Program and his subsequent refusal to attend a rehabilitation facility."

Not to steal OP's thunder, but here's a quote from the senior Colon. In the interview, he noted that the violation was due to painkillers and that:

"Colon said his son’s back pain was due to the execution of his "Backstabber" finishing maneuver, which is a double knee backbreaker. The move requires Carlito to endure the impact of his 200-300 pound wrestlers on his knees and back each time."

Now, I admit that I'm not privy to the inner machinations of pro wrestling, but why wouldn't he just change his finisher?

(Personally, I think the Backstabber looked kind of awkward anyway. Same thing with the Codebreaker. Aside from the possibility of sneak attacks, RKO-style, the two moves do nothing for me.)

What I want to know is, how do you hurt yourself using your finishing move when you haven't won a match in over a year? confused

Hasn't won a televised match. He's probably used it tons in dark matches and at house shows.

Or it just displays how ineffective the Backstabber is as a finishing move...as it finishes no one...

Sweeiiit Melina's almost back! biggrin
Alright! A few more weeks without her!
Emotional Amputation
Swagger and Taker put on a pretty good match on that one RAW. I think it was the draft episode?

This match happened when all of the RAW superstars were stuck in Europe. Blame it on the volcano in Iceland.

Add John Cena to the list of "injured" at OTL

Add WWE Champion John Cena to the list of superstars injured at Sunday's WWE Over The Limit pay-per-view. Cena posted on Twitter.com/WWEJCena this morning:

"Morning CeNation. Spent last 3 hrs at dentist. Got a tooth knocked out at OTL. Mouth numb."

He later added that a fan suggested he do a "Cena after the dentist" video - a reference to the "David after the dentist" viral video. Cena replied, "Brilliant. Is this real life?"

Reason for R-Truth's win, more on new tag-team

- Kofi Kingston won the WWE IC Title on Sunday and R-Truth won the WWE United States Title last night largely because of the company's new directive to push African-Americans.

- The Uso Twins, who debuted on last night’s RAW, are the current FCW Tag Team Champions after defeating Joe Hennig & Brett DiBiase for the belts earlier this year. They were brought to RAW this week to replace the Colons in the feud with The Hart Dynasty after Carlito was released last week.
so no more cutesy promos for Cena huh?
well then what else does he have?

Latest news on the no-blood policy in WWE

The Undertaker suffered a busted nose on this week's Smackdown, thanks to Rey Mysterio's 619. Taker bled for a few minutes before the match ended and no trainer was sent out to stop the blood. It's interesting that this happened after two matches were hurt at Over the Limit due to trainers coming out to stop cuts.

Some people in the company figure that the no-blood rule is just a phase and blame it mostly on Linda McMahon running for office. One of the main reasons WWE has stopped wanting blood on TV is because agreements that have been made to attract a higher class of sponsors. The feeling is that if WWE's popularity goes way down then they would probably change the rule but Linda McMahon winning or losing the election won't bring any changes. Dave Meltzer believes that the PG rule will likely be in effect until either the license deal with Mattel runs out, which is years from now, or another company, such as TNA, takes away from WWE's popularity.
It's not the first time they didn't do anything over bloody noses. What are they gonna do, run out there and shove tissues up the wrestler's nose?

Possible plans for the NXT finalists

As noted before, there is talk of having a four-way match for the Unified Tag Team Titles at WWE’s Fatal 4 Way PPV. Fatal 4 Way may also see the winner of NXT make his PPV debut and The Miz vs. Daniel Bryan is another possible match for the show.

One of the working ideas has been for the winner of NXT team with his Pro for a Unified Tag Team Title shot. This could be Chris Jericho & Wade Barrett, R-Truth & David Otunga or Matt Hardy & Justin Gabriel getting the title shot. Another possible ending for NXT is for David Otunga to win and challenge R-Truth for the United States Title.

It’s been said that Otunga, Barrett and Bryan are the only three NXT rookies who are guaranteed a main roster spot, although Gabriel is likely to stick around also.
