There's also a lot of indie feds that make me literally sick to my stomach.

Like IWA. I saw that Mike Levy vs Micki Knuckles incident...dear lord, talk about giving wrestling a bad name. That's by far one of the most sickening backwoods type thing Ive ever seen

Then AWF and New Jack. The guy literally tries stabbing and choking a guy to death in the ring, and the ref and security just stand by like its part of the "work". And then New Jack severely beats an elderly wrestler.

And then more recently Top Rop Productions back east. Watching that "scott hall match" from 2010 is one of the saddest, most embarrassing things Ive ever seen.

And still too many super ghetto barb wire and everything but the kitchen sink "indie feds" trying to be like CZW or ECW, except even way lamer.

IWA-MS (I believe IWA-DS is a different company all together) WAS the company that had the best talent. Guys like Punk, Joe, Danielson, Kazarian, Sabin, Claudio, Hero, Shelley owe their careers to IWA-MS but I think once PWG, ROH and CZW (and eventually CHIKARA) sprung up, all the great talent left and all really remained were the older indie talent and the guys who could only do garbage matches. For the good IWA-MS stuff, check the Ted Petty Invitational shows. Their badass

And New Jack has a habit of getting guys who tend to think they can be as hardcore as Jack. Hell, Gypsy Joe (the elderly wrestler you speak of) basically demanded Jack to blade him

And yeah, there are a lot of garbage promotions but most of them are relatively unknown.

The few matches I saw of "IWA", it basically resembled a drunken white nationalist brawl in the backyard of a trailer park. Other than the ring, it looked like backyard wrestling.

And when you see the new jack shoot interviews, the guy is literally crazy and brags about trying to kill guys in matches. There's a big difference about going a little hard on a guy doing a no sell or working stiff, than trying to stab a guy to death.

The other examples people showed above my post were pretty creative and interesting. At times a bit sloppy, but the heart is there and it's far removed from disturbing/trashy garbage feds.

First, what do you expect from a guy who lost brain matter after falling two stories off a ledge? He tried to kill Vic Grimes for a reason; revenge

Also that is a bad IWA-MS match but they've had some good IWA-MS stuff. I wish I could find it but it seems to be deleted. There used to be a good high-light video of the Ted Petty Invitational 2006. That had some of the best talent of the indies at the time and it was a good a showcase of the great stuff IWA-MS had.

Well New Jack didnt seem right in interviews I saw with him before that terrible scaffold botch.
I just don't get why they allow these crazy matches. Barbed wire? Dear lord. I don't consider any of this stuff "wrestling".

It's rare that deathmatches could be considered other than Garbage matches. FMW, the company that originated the hardcore/deathmatch style had a lot of great gems in their library. For a good match involving barbwire, check Megumi Kudo vs. Combat Toyoda. It was Toyoda's retirement match and Kudo was her tag-partner. It's a great match

Yea, I've wayyyy outgrown my love for garbage wrestling now.

IWA? What do you expect, Pock, from Ian Rotten? I liked him in Bad Breed...hell, I LOVED Bad Breed as a tag team...but that's it.

New Jack? Yea, he's a POS for what he did to Lane, not just for the act, but for flip flopping his take on it. One interview he says he didn't mean to get that ugly with him, and in another, he flat out says "yea, I was high on coke and trying to murder him, what of it?" That said, I'm actually in his corner with regards to the Gypsy Joe incident. Joe was a stuck up old git who no selled EVERYTHING Jack threw his way. I'm not at all sympathetic to the beating he took as a result of basically trying to intentionally make Jack look bad.

Lamer than CZW? Pock, that's downright metaphysical....

It can be. Watch some old NWA footage or Sabu v Terry Funk (scary as that match was and signalled the end of ECW using barbed wire)

Quote:
Of course one can also point to the WWE circa 1998 as having dangerous matches. Particularly when Undertaker fought Mankind in hell in a cell or when Shane Mcmahon did this long dive onto Big Show from the top of the stage scaffolding.

You know how it is; wrestling, like most forms of entertainment, finds a good thing and runs it into the ground and back.

I actually have the official VHS release of that card. Jeezus it was intense. I only bought FMW tapes because I was still in my "if it ain't hardcore, it ain't cool" phase, but watching the old Onita era actually had an old Jim Crockett NWA style vibe, which is a much better trait.

To me, professional wrestling is a beautiful dance. It's a kind of scientific ballet with ups and downs. It's not this sickening degenerate bum fight ghetto backwoods s**t I keep seeing on youtube. Not saying Im into just 80's style wrasslin, nor tv wrasslin. I was a HUGE ECW fan back in the day, with of course the glory days of WCW and WWF. But I've also been a fan of all sorts of indie promotions. I first got into wrestling in 1986 with WWF, and followed a lot of the smaller promotions.

But some of this stuff...oof.

Another not so proud moment...when East Coast promotion top rope productions insisted a crippled out of his mind Scott Hall 'wrestle'

It's not just New Jack or IWA, it's all these skeevy conscience-less "wrasslin" promotions that have no business being in business.
All I know, if I had my own promotion, it'd be the most amazing thing this side of banana nut bread smile Sometimes, like idiot filmmakers like Michael Bay, I don't think these promoters step back to critique their own product or see things as a fan might.
