User ImageArmonia is a peaceful village heralded by three powerful guilds: the Rescuers, Merchants, and Performers. The guilds are a part of life for the Pokemon in Armonia; it is traditional for Pokemon to join one of the three guilds, with some families building generations upon generations of service, until their names become known as legend.

The Rescuers are praised for their bravery by defending other Pokemon.
The Merchants brought wealth to Armonia with their cleverness.
The Performers, gifted with boundless charisma, keep smiles on everyone's faces.

Each guild accepts any and all Pokemon searching for a place to live, offering food, shelter, and the chance to do great things...

The legendary Pokemon Shaymin over looks their town and brings prosperity, thus many Gracidea flowers are left all over the village to commemorate their beloved goddess. However, there seems to be strange forces working within the village of Armonia lately, what could they be...

There are three guilds Pokemon can join in Armonia: the Rescuers, Merchants, and Performers.

User ImageButtery Biscuits Rescuing Group
Guild Leaders: Divya the Flareon and Idan the Luxray
Guild Admin: Fenton the Ivysaur

The Buttery Biscuits Rescuing Group's goal is to rescue and help those around them. Any Pokemon is allowed to join and any Pokemon is allowed to ask for help from the Rescuers. In the Buttery Biscuits Rescuing Group, there are official guild missions, and then there are sidequests. Guild missions will often award an increase in Rank as well as Poke, while sidequests will award anything from a few Poke to a very rare item.

The missions must be completed in order to continue in the guild, but the sidequests are not mandatory. The only way to achieve level or happiness based evolutions is to complete missions. If your Pokemon does not do the current mission, they do not gain anything, and will not be able to evolve or add a new Pokemon to their team...

Divya and Idan manage the Buttery Biscuits Rescuing Group... or Idan manages it, really, Divya doles out quests and half-hearted praise. Where Idan is hard-working and determined to help all kinds of Pokemon despite his jittery, excitable nature, Divya is abominably lazy, and most of the quests she comes up with involve bringing some kind of rare food to the guild. Food is always a valuable resource for the Buttery Biscuits Rescuing Group, so its guild members can be assured of hearty meals. (It bears noting that Idan's unofficial title is 'food fetcher'.)

They have an odd friendship -- Idan adores Divya, even if she treats him with the same indifference she does new guild members. Deep down, however, she has nothing but the highest respect for him, and generally trusts his good judgment.

User ImageGracidea Trading Association
Guild Leaders: Bjourn the Ambipom and Tenerae the Murkrow
Guild Admin: TBA

The Gracidea Trading Association only allows people who are determined to make a living off of selling their wares. Merchants must be dedicated to search for the items that the guild needs in order to sell, and recovering stock for the guild will make up the majority of their missions. Depending on which level your Pokemon is, the items will become harder and more complicated to find. They will not always be able to find them... and buying them from another member in the guild is forbidden. Sidequests may be limited to finding items to sell to the Pokemon that need it. No one is allowed to give anything out for free, unless stated otherwise by a Guild Leader. Unless you can get away with it.

Guild members are allowed to request items for a certain period of time and have a team from Buttery Biscuits Rescuing Group find it for them, or they must find it for themselves. They must also be able to go on duty when called, to sell items for a certain price and to haggle as high as they can go. They will be paid for their efforts, depending on how much is sold that day.

Bjourn and Tenerae are the leaders of the Gracidea Trading Association, and they're a good example of two Pokemon working together despite being as different as night and day. They are nothing alike and tend to fight often. Bjourn is the more serious of the two and tends to only talk when regarding work. Tenerae is a flighty chatterbox, infamous for being quite the prankster. The Gracidea Trading Association supplies all of the shops in Armonia, and Tenerae is in charge of acquiring their stock, leaving Bjourn the 'boring' jobs like keeping track of profits and inventory.

However, the guild has a dark secret: the supplies Tenerae brings in don't always come from entirely willing sources. Unbeknownst to Bjourn, Tenerae runs an underground 'thieves' guild' from within the Gracidea Trading Association. New members might just get an offer to join them...

User ImageMuseum of Performing Arts
Guild Leaders: Lastera the Leafeon and Niall the Glaceon
Guild Admin: Zvezda the Umbreon

The youngest of the three guilds, the Museum of Performing Arts was created to nurture Pokemon with more artistic inclinations. Does your Pokemon live for the stage? Do they love to sing, act, or dance? Or perhaps they prefer writing or painting? Whatever their art is, they're sure to find a place here.

Performers' missions have greater emphasis on interacting with other Pokemon in Armonia. Lastera and Niall often lead troupes for big performances in town, which guild members must complete in order to gain higher rank. Sidequests send guild members out to fulfill commissions forwarded to the guild. The main focus of the performers' guild is roleplaying -- experience points and Poke are awarded less for your Pokemon's actual skill and more for the amount of effort you put into responding to the mission. They don't skimp on rewards, either; because it also serves as the town museum and library, the Museum of Performing Arts is the most lavish guild in Armonia.

Lastera and Niall are the curators of the Museum of Performing Arts. The two brothers appeared in Armonia very suddenly one day, but they've since made themselves a permanent fixture in the village, dazzling Pokemon with their elegance and enigmatic origins. Not much is known about them other than their shared passion for the arts. Niall is rather shy when not performing; he is most at ease when with Lastera, and seems doubly awkward when facing other Pokemon by himself. While Lastera is comparatively friendly and quick to smile, he reveals little else -- although it is rumored that he is highly fond of Otto, a Pidgeot employed as his assistant, and doesn't take kindly to anyone getting too close to him. Despite their reluctance to open up to anyone, they both make it a point to help their guild members by personally assisting them with missions.

Your Pokemon needs to meet certain requirements in order to evolve. Pokemon normally evolve by leveling up, gaining happiness, trading, or with the aid of special items, such as evolution stones. In the world of Pocket Explorers, these elements work a little differently...

              Evolution Requirements:
Levels: All Pokemon start at level 1. They gain experience from completed RPs and missions. When a Pokemon collects 100 experience points, they gain a level!*
Happiness: Like experience points, happiness points can be earned from completed RPs and missions. All Pokemon with happiness-based evolutions require 100 happiness points to evolve.**
Trading: These Pokemon must visit Inamorata's Shrine to receive a special mission.
Stones/Special Items: Evolution stones and special items (such as the Reaper's Cloth, King's Rock, Dragon Scale, etc.) are occasionally sold in the general store in the Bazaar, usually for hefty prices. If you're lucky, you might be able to find the item you need in a dungeon!

We recommend keeping track of your progress in your journal. When you have met all of these requirements, create a topic in Inamorata's Shrine with the title [Evolving Request #] Pokemon Name, where your Pokemon will petition the goddess with an evolution request. After a quick RP, your Pokemon will officially evolve, and we'll get their new art to you as soon as possible!

*For Pokemon like Glaceon and Leafeon, who evolve by level in certain locations, your Pokemon will use new evolution stones, like a Mossy Stone and Icy Stone.
**For Pokemon like Espeon and Umbreon, who evolve with happiness depending on the time of the day, simply mention the time of evolution in the RP with Inamorata.

Welcome to the Daycare! This is Blaster and Herbin’s area. They take care of all the abandoned eggs as well as the eggs of Pokemon who are busy in the guilds! Not only do they care for the eggs, but they help raise little baby Pokemon until they reach an age to wander off on their own or join one of the guilds. The Daycare keeps them occupied with various games and activities. Some games are just for fun, while others help develop their growing skills.

These two don’t need much help, but when they do, they send a quest to one of the three guilds and reward the first few helpers with a very special egg to take care of!

When your Pokemon breed, their eggs can be picked up here in the Daycare. Breeding Pokemon often results in unique abilities and markings for the children...

              Breeding Rules:
There are no hybrid Pokemon. Offspring will take on the species of one parent or the other, but may receive coloration or markings from both parents.
As in the games, baby Pokemon cannot breed.
Unlike the games, homosexual couples can breed here!
A couple can only breed once every six months.
Heavily RPed couples may receive special benefits!
The amount and gender of the eggs will be randomized.

Armonia's famous Bazaar is in the town square, right in front of the Museum of Performing Arts. Constantly buzzing with activity, the Bazaar has many shops and characters to interact with! Every month, each shop's inventory will rotate. Wares will range from very common items easily found in dungeons to extremely rare (and extremely expensive!) items. The prices will also vary depending on the month, including the occasional sale. The only way to purchase items is with Poké, the primary currency of Armonia, which can be obtained by completing missions for the guilds.

Shops can be found here. Items are normally purchased with IC RP responses, but be sure to check the instructions listed in each shop's respective thread!

User ImageGoodfeather General Store
Shop Owner: Kasimira the Honchkrow
Shop Thread: TBA

Many years ago, the Goodfeather General Store had humble beginnings as a tiny vending cart. There was nothing to sell but bottlecaps and old berries. Pokemon had to fly all the way to the Sandstone Caves just to find something worthwhile, and after all that effort, all they got for it was a couple of Poké. Since then, it has expanded into the popular trading stall it is today... Such is the tale that Kasimira gladly tells all of her customers in her shrill voice while she waits for them to peruse her many wares.

The Goodfeather General Store sells a great variety of items, from berries to backpacks to boulders ("never know when you'll need a good rock to hurl at somebody"). It's the first stop for adventurers embarking on missions. Far from the days of rusty bottlecaps, the general store is particularly well known for the bizarre artifacts Kasimira brings in from time to time. She occasionally manages to find things like evolution stones or strange devices known as TMs, technology otherwise foreign to Armonia.

As one of the oldest members of the Gracidea Trading Association, Kasimira enjoys a constant supply of items delivered by junior members -- including, at least to her, her daughter, Tenerae. Her prices aren't exactly fair... and she certainly doesn't make exceptions for fellow guild members... but she's been known to trade items for "favors of equal value".

User ImageSeaside Company of Haberdashers
Shop Owners: Ravin the Crawdaunt, Czepel and Czilla the Joltiks
Shop Thread: TBA

Named for the place where Czepel and Ravin first met, the Seaside Company of Haberdashers is a boutique and tailor rolled into one. It has gained some fame since becoming the primary source of props and costumes for the Museum of Performing Arts. Here, Pokemon can purchase hand-made accessories or request alterations to items they already own. Sometimes the shop offers rare opportunities to commission Czepel for custom items, at higher prices than his usual stock. The most readily available accessories are made of fabric, while things like glasses and jewelry are more difficult to craft, and may require Pokemon to bring their own materials.

Czepel is in charge of making everything, leaving his twin sister Czilla to take care of sales. Forceful and demanding despite her diminutive size, Czilla doesn't take kindly to window-shoppers and will often push any onlookers to "hurry up and buy something". Czepel is considerably more laid-back, content to sit and chat with customers even while working. He has an inexplicable love for seashells and hats. The Joltik twins happen to be members of the Museum of Performing Arts (and they also happen to be the smallest Pokemon in the guild and probably the entire village of Armonia -- don't rub it in), so they have a smaller branch within the guild that specializes in souvenirs based off their stage plays.

Despite being the most noticeable member of the staff, Ravin avoids drawing attention to himself by staying in the background and managing the shop's inventory, but perhaps it's more accurate to say that his real job is making sure the Joltik siblings don't get stepped on. He's especially protective of Czepel.

User ImageSal's Café
Shop Owner: Sal the Salamence
Additional Staff: Miachelle the Lopunny, Anise the Delibird
Shop Forum: What're you having?

Constantly managing to look dark and shady even in daytime, Sal's Café is a popular hangout for adventurers. Filled with enough food to stuff a Snorlax, gossip flows from the lips of customers as copiously as Berry Juice, and there's always an ear to listen -- for better or worse. Many Pokemon come here to meet friends and travel companions.

In OOC terms, Sal's Café differs from the other shops in that it is a public location for people to RP... with emphasis on public: all RPs in the café are ORPs. Characters (including NPCs) can drop in at any time. This has the benefit of giving a space for Pokemon of different guilds to interact, and additionally allows more interactions with various staff characters, who may even give out special quests with enough RPs.

The café is staffed by Sal, Miachelle, and Anise. Anise brews drinks (cold drinks are her specialty), but she is best known for her ability to fall asleep anywhere and her general impatience for questions about her night job during Snortamas. Miachelle is the café's only waitress, a scarcity no one sees reason to change -- her accommodating manner and considerable... talents have garnered her quite a few admirers. The owner, Sal, is a tough and gruff Pokemon. He's traveled all over the world and has many stories he loves to tell. It is unclear how many of them actually happened and how many he made up, and no one knows how old he really is. Some say he may be older than the Goddess herself.

User ImageHarmonious Every Hour Helping Hand Bank of Inventory Tracking
also known as the Town Bank for short

Shop Owner: Ishi the Plusle
Shop Thread: Let me assist you with keeping track of your inventory?

There was once a time when Pokemon carried all of their items in bags. Backpacks, messenger bags, purses, re-purposed nets -- they used anything they could find. When the bags were filled to the brim with trinkets, berries, and other miscellanea, they would visit the Pocket Seamstress to have more pockets stitched on, so they could cram in even more things. This great era of fashionably stuffed pockets earned Armonia's early adventurers their name: Pocket Explorers. Naturally, this became very inconvenient, and it was decided that there would be a place specifically for the dumping and keeping of things.

And so, the bank was born, putting the Pocket Seamstress out of business. Pokemon can deposit or withdraw any items or Poké they choose to keep here. The bank has gone through many titles and owners over the years, but today it is in Ishi's helpful hands. Going on her constant manner of smilingly performing her bank duties, the quirky Plusle Ishi seems to keep lively through an endless energy supply she harbors inside herself. While awaiting clients seeking inventory tracking help, she is usually found in the middle of stringing randomly together a musical beat of hums and sounds.

User ImageLose 'Em or Weep
Shop Owner: Delter the Psyduck
Shop Thread: TBA

Pokemon are allowed a maximum of four moves for use in battle. But what if, for some reason, a Pokemon wanted to forget one of their moves? What if they learned a particularly irksome attack that they can't forget about, no matter how hard they try? What if they just wanted to have three moves instead of four?

Lose 'Em or Weep was created to address these admittedly scarce complaints. Through the powers of psychic energy and interpretive dance, Delter erases all memory of any potentially traumatic move. After months of little to no customers, Delter has started offering an option to recover forgotten moves in exchange for Poké. He's also the only Pokemon in Armonia who seems to understand how TMs work, and so acts as a Move Tutor for those who happen to find TMs, or their even rarer counterparts, HMs.

Delter is a mystery -- no one can figure him out. Some think he speaks in riddles, but most Pokemon understand it as gibberish. If anything, it's simpler to find out more about him when he's staring off into space. He mumbles things under his breath that sound strangely disturbing.

User ImageBluk Tattoo Parlor
Shop Owner: Gil the Nidorino
Shop Thread: TBA

For one of his art exhibits in the Museum of Performing Arts, Gil researched different types of Pokemon markings. Fascinated by his findings, he began painting on himself to create new 'markings', and then agreed to paint on other curious Pokemon who appreciated the effect. This hobby turned into a business, marking the beginnings of the Bluk Tattoo Parlor.

Thanks to many experiments with paint and berry dyes, these tattoos are permanent. Prices vary depending on the colors and complexity of the design; in addition to Poké, Pokemon will also need to pay in berries to choose the color of the dye. For example, Cheri Berries yield red dye, Oran Berries - blue, Pecha Berries - pink, and so on. Gil offers a selection of premade designs, and like Czepel, he can also be commissioned for custom designs. Pokemon can even get piercings at the Bluk Tattoo Parlor, but while they don't cost any berries and are usually fairly cheap, the process tends to leave Pokemon feeling sore for quite some time...

Gil remains unusually chipper despite the often messy nature of his job. To distract his customers from their fear of needles, he resorts to smiling disarmingly and regaling them with witty (and not-so-witty) jokes.

User ImageArmonia's Special Delivery Service
Shop Owners: Otto the Pidgeot and Florence the Flygon
Shop Thread: TBA

Next to the Gracidea Trading Association, the post office is one of the oldest establishments in Armonia, having been built soon after the ability to read and write became common and Armonians came into contact with other Pokemon overseas. While that was its original purpose, it is common for Pokemon to send mail to others within the village. There's even a holiday dedicated to writing letters called Write Your Friend A Letter Day, affectionately known as 'WYFALD'.

In addition to delivering letters and packages, the post office has a lost and found booth, where mysterious items collected during delivery flights have been gathered. Pokemon can claim missing items here... alternatively, they can claim to be missing an item, and thank Otto and Florence for finding it...

Otto works two jobs, one in Armonia's Special Delivery and the other as Lastera's assistant in the Museum of Perfoming Arts. He is very serious about both and taciturn about anything else, except perhaps how good Lastera smells and how pretty he is. On the other hand, Florence can best be described as a troll; he loves teasing people. He mercilessly taunts customers about going through their mail ("hey there, naughty thing, you're doing some real dirty stuff in there~"). In all seriousness, he never does look into the letters for real -- he just likes to have fun.

Owner, artist, concept design, plotter
Eranas decided one day that Pokemon Mystery Dungeon was awesome and he really, really wanted to draw some Pokemon. Soon afterwards, Pocket Explorers was born, and then he proceeded to draw ALL OF THE THINGS. When not producing art at speeds that make Arcanines turn green with envy, Eranas organizes games, events, and other plots, all while rubbing his hands together and laughing maniacally. In his free time, he enjoys many varieties of delicious, savory meat. Chewing on the hair of his enemies stimulates his creative ideas. He may or may not be an Azurill.

Contact him if you have any questions regarding character art, availability, plots, or the shop in general.

Co-owner, artist, graphics monkey
Vethrfolnir is atrociously shy and spends most of her time lurking around the thread, silently judging everyone. Sometimes she draws things, but she is too slow and too unused to Pokemon's funny bodies to do very much, so she spends most of her time writing descriptions and filling in story details. Part of her duties as graphics monkey include certing and making banners. Her hobbies are sleeping, procrastinating, and drinking unhealthy amounts of caffeine. She identifies most strongly with Slakoths.

Contact her if you have any questions regarding NPCs, cert changes (or anything else that needs to be fixed), backstory, or plots.
