The art here could go a number of ways, and I want your input! Which do you prefer from the following options?

A single unisex gender egg-to-adult progression for all species.	1.7%	[ 1 ]

Speaking of which, Mal (or any other snake keepers), how often should one take a corn snake to the vet? How much do you pay a year in vet bills?

So far, with 9 snakes, I have spent £35 in 2 years XD You barely EVER need to take snakes to the vet; Royals are likely to go more often, as they are prone to RIs, but a lot of the time you can treat that at home. There are no yearly or even any sort of regular health check you need to take your snake to, so they are very inexpensive in terms of vet fees on a yearly basis; HOWEVER, when something DOES go wrong, like eggs needing to be removed due to blockage, or impaction from feeding on substrate that sticks to the mouse, things like that, it can be VERY expensive, as you have to find reptile specialist vets.

The only reason I have had to spend £35 is because I took my Taiwanese Beauty to the vet a week after getting her as she was very lethargic due to mites around her eyes. Within a week of home treatment, she was healthy and scoffing mice left, right and center.

Oh, that's good! :3 I read on a couple sites that you should bring a new snake in to the vet along with some poo samples just to make sure it's healthy. Do you think that that is unnecessary?

You can if you wish; the main thing you're going to be asking for looking at in fecal samples is worms and other intestinal parasites, and generally, you can identify those quite easily yourself, especially as a snake that is thin, or has very dark stool (bloodied). Especially if you are going through reputable breeders, you'll have very little issue with health. Pet shops, however, will often falsify records of feeding and shedding, so it is ALWAYS good to look at the snake yourself; check around the eyes and chin for mites, feel the skin to see if it is loose, as this is a sign of dehydration, take into account the shape of the body - toblerone = underweight, loaf of bread = perfect weight, sausage = overweight or bloated. Anything in the realms of the first or second, avoid, cos it will cause heart ache; just look at Smidge :c

Anyway, its something you CAN do, but with good quarantine procedures in place, especially if you have other reptiles or snakes, you should see any issues straight away, like I did with Taiki.
