Martian: Contemporary classical meaning instrumental? Orchestral?
Can be both. I guess the proper term would be "modern art music".
Like the music of Vanessa Mae?
No. Pure classical, no pop/jazz/techno. I actually don't like jazz or techno.
Some early 20th century classical, like Shostakovich, Hindemoth, Webern, Shoenberg, Kaija Saariaho. I like 24T compositions too, plus microtonal. Things that most people in the greater public will never hear about. It's somewhat of an elitist, underground scene, for classical music. The market is mostly music students and music professionals.
And there's always 'ol Ludwig Van and Liszt and Mozart's requiem and Bach's harpsichord stuff and the Toccata and Fugue.
Conclusion: classical all the way.
And I like (some) metal too.
