Aaand *dies* I see some lineart auctions I'd give my soul for that are selling for less than a million, auctions I "meh"ed at getting AB in the multi-millions, and crazy bid ladders left and right. There's no consistency. @o@

That consistency includes anime = above everything else, and everything else = below anime.

Some anime artists... I mean, their CG rocks but their lineart is so terrible that it makes me facepalm XD

My lineart is at least anatomically correct :B

You severely underestimate how long it takes some people (or at least me) to draw chibis then! I find myself amazed "I just spent two hours on THAT?" with it sometimes...

If indeed you can draw them in 10 minutes, you should, and you should start RL commissioning them for 5 dollars each and quit your day job! Not that I don't understand the frustration of it, but gaia is completely biased toward chibis anyway. I think gaia's just a bad place generally for selling anything elaborate and non super-desu-anime in the first place.

haha I'm talking about B/C lineart auctions, I don't venture into R&C because I have no monies for the art in there. I save all of what I have for my shops and if/when I ever get out of the hole, I'll be spending them on pets. cool

FFFFFF. I dunno, they look so simple D: And then when I see mistakes and stuff like that, I think people are being careless and that they rushed it. Soooo I suppose that's why I think it takes such a short time to draw them XD idkidkidk, I've seen some true, utter rubbish that a person has claimed took 2 hours to draw and that doesn't mean they should charge more than it's worth (I'm talking really badly distorted MS paint crap that looks like someone had an epileptic fit while they were drawing).

Ahhh. B/C? The thing I've seen is that people REALLY REALLY REALLY like fluffy cutesy things. Everyone has a thing for In The Name Of The Moon right now.

And no, I dont think that time spent necessarily means they should charge more ... but if you could sell chibis for 50k because that's what the general market would hastily buy it at, and you mark it at 20k to be proportionate to other art styles, then its just sort of silly. Like you're undermarking yourself to make a point, and not taking advantage of the market properly. Advantageeee, rawr. I'm totally not shy about that I'm not sure why... e.e

I don't know that it matters.. the lucky ones can turn it into somewhat decent RL commissions but in the 'real art world' as far as 'real money' goes chibis don't exactly get you in any fancy doors razz So if they're superstars on gaia, more power to them I guess.
Though, I suppose if you mean they're getting set up with doomed expectations, I guess that's true.

Yes THE ONLY. At least when I was on it a lot razz There were quite a few impostors... and maybe a few actual dudes but you'll be vastly, vastly, vaaaastly outnumbered.
