It starts with a trip.
Everyone knew the Crystal Caverns were dangerous; everyone warned you not to go in. But for some reason or another, you did, and somewhere in the caverns, you touched a crystal.
Now the world around you has grown strange, full of gray smoke and strange shapes; even the crystal, still in your hand, has lost its color. In front of you is a store, its doors thrown wide open. Pale gold light and warm, fragrant incense smoke spill out from the portal, and though it feels welcoming, it also feels momentous. This step cannot be taken back.
"Won’t you come in?" two voices call out as one.
And you do.
Inside, the shopkeepers Astra and Caelestis greet you. Their true names are a mystery, as are their origins and their purpose. They are ageless, but burdened by time; they are gatekeepers, wishgranters, protectors of the portals between worlds, and you have fallen into their realm. The world that runs parallel to your own is falling apart, and the only way for you to go home is to help.
Each of the items on their shelves houses a slumbering spirit. Though their store brims with antiques and oddities, only one will feel right for you. When you take hold of it, you will become an Enkindler, and give new life to the Phantasm inside. Eventually, it will help you find a way home.
And before you leave the shop, out to find your way in this new world, Caelestis hands you the item -- with the crystal you touched set into it.
- « O V E R ★ World »
- [✖] The world of Epithymia is not much like the human world, filled with fantastic creatures and overflowing with magical energy -- -- but they are linked through Astra and Caelestis' shop, which occupies the space that corresponds to the Easy Magic Convenience Store in the human world.
[✖] The Crystals at the center of each region were once stable, and sources of immense power. This energy was tapped by the first Epithymians, who soon creating flourishing cities.
[✖] Then, through some calamity so terrible all records of it are lost, the Crystals' magic span out of control, and each nation was consumed by chaos. Only the nation of Toleros was truly spared.
[✖] The native creatures of Epithymia were unable to live in the new world, and so are being sent to the human world through a certain gachapon machine.
[✖] Normal humans are being pulled over from the human world by some unknown force.
[✖] If they want to go home, though, they need to recharge the crystal that transported them over in the first place -- and the only way to do that is to help.
[✖] At this point in time, most of Epithymia is still closed. Shades are too weak to protect themselves and their Enkindlers against the chaos that consumes each nation; only full-grown Phantasms will stand a chance.

You've taken an Item from the mysterious trinket shop, and set out to look for a way home. The gemstone set into the Item catches your eye whenever you look at it -- but for now, it remains inert. It's probably best to keep it close by.
[✖] Item art is unique. Every Item has a gemstone set into it -- either colored (for premade Items) or gray (for semicustom Items).

The item has come to life, animated by some magical force. Now it can float a few inches above any surface, and produces swirls of colored light. It seems to be more active in certain circumstances.
[✖] The art is the same as the previous stage, but the item's gained magical effects; gray crystals will have gained a color.
[✖] Obtained after two weeks of in-thread activity (a post every two or three days to say 'hi' is enough).
- « S T A G E 3 ★ Shade »
A tiny spirit has manifested from the item. A Shade's magic is still fairly weak, but they can cast small charms, and already display a talent that will only get stronger with time. They carry their item, which has shrunk to fit them.
[✖] Unique art of a chibi. The actual Shade is anywhere from the size of a coin to the size of a small child.
[✖] Obtained after completing a journal, 1 RP, and a growth form.
- « S T A G E 4 ★ Phantasm »
When the bond between Shade and Enkindler grows strong enough, the Shade becomes able to manifest as a Phantasm -- the size and shape of a normal human. The Phantasm's magic is now strong enough that they can explore parts of Epithymia that were impassible before. They might even be able to take their Enkindler home...
[✖] Unique full-body art.
[✖] Obtained by trading in 30 Crystal Shards.

- [✖] The Marketplace is the city of Wakefield's famous open-air market, which has large gatherings twice a week.
[✖] Here, you can purchase Miniatures and additional art for existing characters with Crystal Shards, the shop's currency.
[✖] Miniatures have a chance of growing to full Items, but it'll cost you a bit more.

- [Q.] Wait, how's this shop related to Gachapon?
[A.] We're sister shops! Gachapon is set in the human world, and features mythical creature gijinka who originally lived in Epithymia. Epithymia is set in the fantasy world of Epithymia, and features humans who fall into the world and need to get home.
[Q.] Can there be an Enkindler without a Phantasm?
[A.] No, sorry :C
[Q.] Are these RP-required?
[A.] You do need to be at least a little active. All you need is to post in-thread or make a single RP post (solo, PRP, ORP, whatever, as long as it's in the guild somewhere) once every three months. If we haven't seen you in three months, we'll send you a PM to see if you're still interested in your pet. If we don't get a response within another month, we will rehome Phantasms with premade items, or move Phantasms with custom items to Faded (inactive/dead); we'll do the same thing after two consecutive inactivity/warning period, an extension of our three-strikes rule -- half a year is a long time to be totally inactive! Faded Phantasms can be reactivated, but you'll need to PM lostandtold to discuss it.
If you're on hiatus or have RL issues, please let us know! We won't go around gleefully seizing Phantasms who've been inactive one day over the limit, but we don't like hit-and-runs :C
[Q.] So how does rehoming work?
[A.] ICly, the rehomed Phantasm has lost its connection to its Enkindler and Faded, and Astra and Caelestis have reclaimed the item to house another Phantasm for another Enkindler.
OOCly, we will refund you for the flatsale price only, and the item will then become available in a writing FS, with a gray crystal. The Phantasm and Enkindler will be brand-new, and art will be brand-new as well. Only the item stage will remain the same.
Also note that Phantasms with non-premade item art (customs and questfairies, mostly) will never be rehomed without permission. Those items will be permanently Faded.
