In Pern Wars there are 9 types of "characters" you can quest for. These being: Holder, Crafter, Weyrfolk, Candidate, Dragonrider, Wherhandler, Dragon, Wher, Firelizard.
Candidate
Candidates are the young of the shop, they are Searched by a Blue Rider who feels they could make a good Dragon Rider. All Candidates are brought to the nearest Weyr they were Searched from, however some Candidates decide to stand at both Weyr sands if there is a clutch. Candidates do chores and have lessons to attend until they Impress. Candidates must be between the ages of 12 and 24 years old, if your character ages out though you may buy an item for them to Impress. Candidates come in two forms, Wher Candidates and Dragon Candidates. Sometimes, a Candidate will try for both but they may only Impress to either a Dragon or Wher. If you plan on having a candidate, here are the things you should read up on.
Candidacy will be your one stop shop for all the information you need on how to play a Candidate. There's also this
here with a bit more information on them.
Dragonrider
Once your Candidate has Impressed to a Dragon, they are now called Weyrlings and train for 18 months to become full fledged Dragon Riders. The shop also offers the possibility for shop goers to quests for a mature Dragonrider should they chose to do so. Dragonriders fight Thread and are the law on Pern, when there is no Thread they train to keep up to good standards. You can find open slots for Dragonriders

Here for Ancalime and
here for Eamane.
Wherhandler
Wherhandlers don't Impress the same way as Dragonriders, instead they need t be accepted by the Wher clutch mother and may only take an egg from her if she accepts them. Wherhandlers fight thread with flamethrowers but on the ground with their Whers, they too also train when there is no Thread. Wherhandlers are also used to patrol Holds and mine. Wherhandlers have it a little easier than the Dragonriders but they are none the less just as important. You can read up on Whers

Weyrfolk
These are the people who live within a Weyr and help out where it is needed depending on their skills. Candidates who do not Impress and age out of Impression are given the choice to stay in the Weyr and help or return home where they came from. Dragon
-ART INCOMING-
The dragons of Pern were created by the original colonists, using fire-dragonets as a genetic template, and utilizing the Eridani technique to craft them into the creatures needed to provide Pern's aerial defense. Pernese dragons have four legs, and two wings. They have a smooth leathery skin without scales that is commonly referred to as hide. Hide comes in five base colors; green, blue, brown, bronze and gold, of which green and gold are female, while bronze, brown and blue are all male; they will never cross-gender (eg, a female blue, or male gold). The shop currently also has copper sub queens and the reds. Dragons come in seven colors: Gold, Copper, Bronze, Brown, Blue, Red, Green. You can find more information on Dragons
Here.
Wher
-ART INCOMING-
Whers are perhaps one of the most versatile working animals on Pern. They are capable of simple speech with their handlers and some basic gliding when jumping. However, their real strength is in their muscular build and fast legs. They are incredibly powerful, able to carry very heavy loads. Wher names always end in "-sk" and take the name of their handler. The more of the handler's name incorporated, the stronger the bond. For example: A wher bonded to Rune would be Runesk or Runsk. An adult Whers are described as weighing between six and eight hundred pounds, and being about the same size as a small, low-slung horse. They wings resemble those of dragons however much smaller and stunted in size. They have a very muscular physique, and are capable of gliding short distances and moving with surprising speed, given their size. Their feet are large, with two toes and one thick pad on the sole, designed to support their weight. Overall, their figures are hunched; their legs fairly long and their bodies and necks quite short. Their tails are short and thick; their heads large, shortened, and heavy with a set of head knobs. Few people are able to find favorable words to describe their appearance. Whers, unlike Dragons, only come in five colors: Gold, Bronze, Brown, Blue, Green. You can find more information on Whers

Firelizard
Firelizards are known as “miniature dragons” due to their insanely similar appearance to that of Dragons. Having six limbs, a set of webbed wings, a set of both front and back legs. A long forked tail and head knobs. Firelizards are only a few feet long from nose tip to tail tip. Small, of mild intelligence, and trainable if one is willing to put in the time, the firelizard can be both a great nuisance and a wonderful companion to its owner. They are about as smart as a fifth grader in sending mental images to their Bonded, Golds are a bit smarter than the rest. A firelizard will Impress upon the first person that gives them food, regardless of that humans ability to actually take care of them. A firelizard will only designate to stay with a human bonded if they keep them safe, content, and well fed. You can find more information on Firelizards
