Welcome to Gaia! ::

After the great volcano, the walls of Maya crumbled and cracked,
leaving behind destruction and a terrible sadness. Melted columns
became totems of a land that once was, and the Mayans decided
that in order to continue on, they needed to leave the past behind.

Having spent years traveling through the lands, the Ave and Dio
have come to a new place. They hope to return the splendor and
life back to the races of Maya, rebuilding a new home in which they
can enjoy their lives.

This is the rebuilding of the Walls Maya
in the newly discovered Land of Et.

Storyline

Our story begins at the end of another.

A catastrophic volcano destroyed the beautiful island of Maya, causing much death. Some of the population survived and had to rebuild their lives, so they went forth on a long and tiring journey to find a place they could call home once again. Following a land bridge created by the volcano, the Ave and Dio began an expedition into unknown territory and finally came upon a new land that they chose to name Et.

Now that the Ave and Dio have explored their new land, they have decided to start rebuilding what once was. New generations of Mayans have now started calling themselves Etians, but the Ave and Dio who experienced the terrifying volcanic eruption will never let anyone forget the history of their lives before Et.

Discovery of Maya
Long ago there was a race of humans, said to possess magical powers. They lived on a secluded island with a vast rain forest and a rocky coast. The humans considered animals their brothers, and their enemies even said they could transform into massive birds, and summon gods.

They mysteriously disappeared, leaving behind two things: only a series of ruined mazes with huge walls, and strange creatures, who can only be found on this island.

Thousands of years later, a group of explorers sailed to this island and named it "Maya" after the leader's daughter. All members of the exhibition died, except the leader and his assistant, who barely made it back. They told everyone back home that they were attacked by giant four-legged birds, just like the legends of old, and huge dragon-like creatures with power only gods could achieve.

A law was passed, making it forbidden for any human to step foot onto Maya. Any that did surely had a death wish.

Many legends surround the creatures. Some think that the creature's eggs emerge from the mysterious walls on the island. Others seem to think that they were created by the ancient humans, and they are waiting on the island for their creators to return, thwarting off any other human that tries to trespass on their land. This is the most commonly believed rumor, however there is another that says that the creatures are actually the humans that once lived on the island, though they transferred their souls into the bodies of their beloved birds...

The Land of Et

[image]Map

To the Tano (North), a mountain range. The highest peaks are snow capped, and the lowest gullies have beautiful springs and lakes. The Tano is the place of cold freshness and beauty. At the base of one of these snow capped mountains there is a temperate pool, which houses a waterfall, behind you can find a cave with beautiful and intricate carvings inside.

To the Ejca (East), the land is a barren stretch, the ground is cracked and small brambly bushes grow out of it. On occasion, you will find an oasis with a small spring of fresh cold water. The journey to the East is not pleasant, and has therefore not been visited very often. The creatures there are spoken of in whispers, though no one knows what they're like or if they're hostile towards the Mayans.

To the Dzoo (West), once you walk for some time, there are giant moss covered monoliths in valleys full of lush green grasses. This is the perfect place to spend some days if you'd like to be alone to collect your thoughts. If you walk, and keep walking, you will come to one of the edges of Et. A sheer cliff face drops off, and hundreds of feet below you can see jagged rocks. It's almost as though the land is warning you to stay away from this strange place.

The Forbidden Land, Kahu (South) has fountains of steam that rise from the ground. In larger cracks, you are able to see molten rock flowing just under the crust of the ground beneath your feet. The Mayans know to stay away from here, lest the land become angry and spew forth to destroy everything again.
The Etians (Mayans)

The most common race of Et/Maya

Ave, Aves (Singular); Ahh-vay (Plural); Ahh-vase

A highly intelligent large creature with bird and lizard-like features. Ave have opposable thumbs which are used in crafting, drawing, and other daily activities. Aves are omnivorous, but generally prefer to eat plants over other animals. Fully grown, males reach 8 to 9 feet, while females reach 7 to 9 feet. Elders grow to a towering 10 to 12 feet once ascended. Aves are very social creatures that often live in flocks, each flock will have different sets of beliefs and rules. The typical lifespan of Aves is around 150 years. Their eggs gestate for nine months, once hatched an Ave will not be considered an adult until 75 years old. Once an Ave reaches the end of its life, it is possible to ascend and become an Elder.

The rarest of the Etian species.

Dio, Dios (Singular); Dee-oh (Plural); Dee-ohs

The Dios are immortal dragon-like creatures that are referred to as "Gods", as each Dio has inherent magical abilities and often control a certain domain within their lands. The extent of the magical properties of Dios has not been fully tested, as Dios prefer to use their magic to aid in daily activities and prefer to keep balance in the world by not abusing their power. Dios are much larger than the Ave. Males reach approximately 20 to 25 feet, while females are generally 15 to 18 feet. Dio are very solitary creatures that prefer to watch over a domain rather than joining into the social activities of the domain's residents. If a Dio has chosen to be part of a group, it would typically be part of a very small clan of Dios or it would be the leader of a flock of Aves. The Aves often revere Dios due to their magical abilities and immortality, and trust their guidance. The diet of a Dio is dependent upon each creature, as some prefer a vegetarian lifestyle while others are carnivorous.

Extremely abundant in both Maya and Et

Lizards

Lacking a higher intelligence, lizards are seen as creatures that should be taken care of and are very playful and loyal creatures that are kept as pets for certain Ave and Dio. It would not be unheard of to see a lizard being used for hunting, gathering, or transporting goods for their Ave and Dio companions. Sexual dimorphism does not occur in these lizards, both males and female adults are roughly 10 feet in length and weigh approximately 300 pounds. The diet of a lizard is the same as that of it's owner, though wild lizards generally eat omnivorously.

Life Stages

Because of the long life spans of the Etians, their juvenile stages will last indefinitely unless role played. There may be other ways to get your Etian to adulthood in the future. (Extremely active, helpful, contest, etc).

Egg
(Ave and Dio only)
Duration: Approximately 2 weeks
Within the hard shell is a fragile baby Ave or Dio. Eggs need constant guarding from their parents or guardians, since eggs face many predators. During the first part of their lives, eggs are motionless and silent, however as they get closer to hatching, they begin to move and if you listen closely, you can hear small noises coming from within the egg.
It's a custom among the Ave to drape strings of beads and feathers over their eggs as a good luck charm.

Hatchling
(Ave and Dio only)
Duration: Approximately 2 weeks
Several days later, your egg suddenly cracks open, and a small, featherless thing has emerged! During the first few days of it's life, a baby Ave can't see or hear, so they're completely dependent on their parents to get around.
A Dio however, being a god, is completely alert after emerging from the egg, and generally have to depend on themselves for hunting unless they were the lucky few with actual parents.
After a few days, the hatchlings are hyper, flightless little fluffballs who only want to play. Popular games include play fighting and hunting games.

Juvenile
(Ave and Dio only)
Duration: Final stage without RP
Your baby has grown a bit! As an Ave grows, it still has a heavy focus on playing, but its beginning to learn how to fly, and important skills such as hunting and crafting, and other various survival skills from its parents or other members of it's family clan.
The Juvenile stage is an important one for a Dio. This is the stage that they begin to develop their powers, and learn about what it means to be a God.

Adult
(All species)
RP Required. Final stage before meeting RP requirements to ascend.
Regulars who participate in conversation and events will also have the opportunity to have their Ave grown to adults.
Now that your Ave or Dio is full grown, it's time for them to leave the nest and go off on their own. As an adult, your Mayan has fully developed skills and is generally expected to be able to live completely on its own. During their adulthood, a Mayan is able, and in some cases expected to, find a mate and have babies of their own. They're also able to leave their home clan (if the clan allows) or start up their own.

Elder
(Ave only)
RP Required
Elders are older Aves who have lived full lives. Often times, Elders have raised many children and have developed a keen skillset. Every elder is blessed and chosen by the gods to be immortal, and are often sought out by younger Ave to be mentors. Though every elder is blessed, they don't receive their blessing simply by being a good member of society, but by pleasing and worshiping their chosen god. There is also a rare chance that an Ave can ascend to godhood without turning into a Dio, and even a rarer chance where they are able to turn into a two legged, human like creature.

Flocks and Clans

The creatures of Et are very social animals. Scattered throughout the Island are several groups, called flocks (Ave) or clans (Dio). These nests can be small groups of family members, unrelated animals that just hunt together, or are Etians that share the same beliefs, hobbies, or worship the same god. Though it isn't uncommon to see an Ave or Dio that doesn't belong to a flock or clan, the ones who do often have a better quality of life, and have an easier lifestyle than the Loners.

While Loners have to fend for themselves, clans usually have a large group of assigned hunters, so the members are well fed. Also, finding a mate within the clan is usually much easier, so the animals living in clans are more likely to produce offspring than the Loners.

Flocks and clans can, however, have their downsides! Often, feuding clans can get in violent fights over land, food, and members, and things can get crowded.

In the end, choosing to join a flock or clan is an important personal decision, and every creature on the island usually reaches a point where they have to weigh the pros against the cons.

Guidelines for Flocks and Clans

• Flocks and clans can be based around family groups, hunting groups, loyal friends, unique abilities, or Etians that worship the same God.

• Full Ave flocks can have a total of two leaders with equal power. They would make all decisions together, for the betterment of the clan. All decisions must still be agreed upon by majority vote, but ideas will not come to a vote unless the clan leaders agree.

• As Dio are more often than not solitary creatures, it would be very rare for them to be part of a clan, but it is not unheard of.

• All flock and clan leaders must be adults.

• If you have an idea for a flock or clan, please message a staff member and they will get back to you as to whether this is appropriate for our setting or not.

• If you have an abundance of Etians whose only connection is that you own them all, you may form a flock or clan.

• FLocks and clans do not have to be permanent, an Etian may choose to leave one if they no longer feel that they belong there. There is no shame, all Etians should understand that others can be at different places in their lives.

How to Create a Flock or Clan

Now that you've had a look at the guidelines, perhaps you want to create your own.

o1: First, come up with a concept, and then a leader. Your concept and leader can be anything, as long as it doesn't go against the flock and clan guidelines or shop rules.

o2: After you have a concept and a leader, gather interest by putting a thread in the Flocks and Clans subforum of the guild.

o3: Once you have people interested, you need to fill out an application in the flock and clan application thread. A staff member will approve it or give you a critique on things that should change.

o4: Once approved, a staff member will create a subforum for your clan using the information in your application! In here, clan members can chat, organize RPs and plots! Clan owners can pay for colourists to do events. If a clan is active enough, colourists may choose to provide special perks like breeding tickets and free events.

Breeding

It's common to find Etian pairs in the lands that are in love, or at least have a fleeting interest in each other and would like to expand on these feelings by breeding. Breeding most often occurs within clans, but it is possible for Loners to have offspring as well. Two Loners may come together to start their own clan, or an Etian within a clan may choose to have offspring with a Loner.

Pairs sometimes mate for life, but there are just as many who don't. It depends entirely on the individual.

Breeding Rules

o1: Breeding costs will depend on the method of breeding slot distribution for the month, please pay attention to the monthly thread.

o2: RP is not required to breed. However, there are perks if the couple is roleplayed, like getting more babies.

o3: All Etians must be at least at the adult stage to breed.

o4: Etians can breed an unlimited number of times.

o5: Only Male and Female couples can breed, however there are ways for same sex couples to easily have babies. For more information, see the "how breeding works" section.

o6: You may keep one pet per owner for each batch, it is your choice what you do with any extra babies that may .

o7: You may choose two direct ancestors to use as throwbacks for breedings. Essentially, this means that you can select parents, grandparents, great grandparents, etc, from each or either Ave/Dio that can be used by the colourist for potential markings or colours.

o8: Lizards may also be bred.

How Breeding Works

In Et, the Ave and Dio are able to interbreed. This can result in the following combinations:

Ave & Ave = 100% Ave (2 babies total or 4 babies if roleplayed)

Ave & Dio = 90% Ave, 10% chance of Dio (2 babies total or 4 babies if roleplayed)

Dio & Dio = 100% Dio (2 babies total or 3 babies if roleplayed)

Lizard & Lizard = 100% Lizard (Lizards will always produce 3 babies)

Some eggs may produce twins, which results in an extra baby!

Same Sex Breedings

Same sex couples may not be able to mate, but they can definitely become parents through using a surrogate.

There are two ways this can work:

o1. When breeding, you can provide an existing pet as a surrogate. If this surrogate is owned by a third person, the batch number will go up from at least 2 to at least 3 babies. All parties must be accepting of the breeding in order to proceed.

o2. The second method is to use a mystery surrogate. This will result in random markings or colours, which will be the colourist's choice.

Requesting a Breeding

o1. All breedings will be through a monthly thread or bribe.

o2. Fill out the form, post it in the monthly breeding thread (or colourist's thread), and wait to see if you are chosen.

o3. Sometimes, colourists will raffle off breeding slots, do it by colourists choice, or just do first come, first serve. You will be privately messaged if you win a breeding slot.

o4. Follow the colourists instructions for payment!

Customs

Customs are available through the Custom sub-forum of the guild, which is located here.

Rules

o1. No human type cosplays.
o2. There will be no clothing.
o3. Pelts, jewelery, and other small items are allowed.
o4. If you have questions about what is acceptable, just ask.
o5. Adults can be obtained through customs, but elders will never be.

Custom Information

Colourist's Choice: Each colourist will have a thread in the custom section of the guild that they will leave open and take requests as they can. As requests are accepted, they will be crossed out and the colourists will be required to post in their thread advising that they will not be performing the previously posted custom requests. This will prevent people from wondering eternally if their request was not seen, or that the artist was just not interested.

Bribes: Bribes are just added incentive for an artist to choose your request. There will be an extra form to add to your post in the custom thread.

Edits: The ability or confidence of each artist will determine if they're available to do edits. The individual threads for each artist will have information about what they're able to do.

Prices: Will fill in soon.
