Abrakadooka is a shop about magical, telepathic, intelligent ferrets. Our mission is to bring you fun, silly, joyful, engaging adventure. Some of our good points are an intriguing magic system, gender freedom, and no base prices! That's right, there are no base prices. Quest-fairying and CC breedings are free of charge, and reqs for colourists. Customs are entirely bribe. All events will be free, save for auctions. So come on in! Backstory

One hot night in the back alley of a large industrial town, a pure white pet ferret, named Kitchen Hunter, had found his way out of his House through a cracked window. He'd never been outside before. The smells were fascinating, but he did not like the ash and smoke that clung to things. As he made his way down the alley, his pure coat gradually getting dirtier, he was surprised to meet a girl-ferret with a dark, banded pelt. Her name was Bin Bailey, and she had once been a pet too, until her People abandoned her. The two talked for a long time, and promised to be friends.

After a few weeks of late night meetings, Kitch and Bin sat in the autumn cool and looked up at the rare stars. They both talked of how they wished they could be like humans, with intelligence and magic. Later, they each dreamed of a ghost grey ferret as big as a horse, who spoke softly and taught them things.

In the months to come, Grey came to them in dreams many times, and the two discovered that they were gaining intelligence, and sometimes they could change things around them just by thinking about it. With such changes came a knowledge that they were now very different in this world of dumb creatures and smart People. And so the two made a pact to leave the city of the People to make their own family of smart ferrets.

...But they didn't go far.

Overview

These ferrets have the same sort of intelligence of ancient humans. They can reason and invent. They have clever hands and have a limited physical manipulation of objects. They are also capable of magic. Most of them have at least the basics of telekinesis and telepathy. All ferrets have the basic ability to create little balls of light. Clothing and ornamentation is common and used to express their talents. They have some ability to walk upright, though they prefer to travel on all fours.

Each ferret has particular talents in magic. There are the Elementals, with manipulations of certain elements, though mostly fire, wind, water, and earth. The Celestials have skills shrouded in mysticism, mainly involved in truth, the future, healing, and seeing things far, far away. Last and most numerous are the Naturals, with abilities to communicate with or control certain types of animals or even plants.

Warrens are usually built up and into cliffsides, with Earth and Water Natural abilities making it possible to dig where mundane ferrets could not. They have full plumbing with heated water available, and are very fastidious about keeping things clean.

They have a monarchy with a council alongside, and everyone works together to provide for the warren, with stores for the winter being of high priority. Food is evenly shared, and sick or injured members are taken care of well. Babies are raised either with a den caregiver parent or nanny, or are raised together in a large group if the parents cannot or have no inclination to raise them. Neither is stigmatized. Younglings are evaluated often for temperament, creativity, intelligence, and magic talent, and are put in the right classes and jobs until they are put somewhere they fit and are happy with. Elders are either put in the council, or into administrative positions.

Pretty much all ferrets have magic called talents. They are born with one or two talents, which start to show themselves at a few weeks old. No matter how many talents they have, one is always the most powerful and is considered the primary. To read up about talents, please check this thread.
