Canada's population: moose

Which would explain why Canadians are terrified of Sarah Palin.

And yeah, the MP's a dumbass.

Will other MPs show similar signs of Palin-level stupidity?

The Zen Master says, "We'll see."

Read ALL OF THIS.

Read all of it.

She was an unlikely horse and was just chucked in at the last minute.

She also was shitty in French and was vacationing while the election was underway because she did not expect to win.

Meh, it just shows that the NDP chose a last minute Representitive.
And, that apparently an NDP member who didn't even really campaign in a region that was filled with Quebec Nationalists/Sovereigntists got elected because they really don't like the Bloc anymore.

Go figure.

Sometimes, people get in by dumb luck.
This is one of those cases.

Given that one could probably find such gaffes being made by members of any party, this is a pretty superficial - if not frivolous - reason to label a party as something not to be taken seriously.

I'm not sure what that means. You can't get a sudden major realignment like this without having some relative newbies get swept into office. Victims (or beneficiaries) or circumstance, I say.

I'm looking forward to seeing them get swept out. The NDP is faced with the frightening prospect of having gone from one Quebec riding to 59 in a surge of support founded on stategic, punitive voting. They are faced with the prospect of owing over half of their ridings to the tentative support of Quebec nationalists disillusioned with the Bloc, supporters who they cannot hope to placate with their traditional platform. And, of course, Jack Layton is gone, and with him the party's likeable, personable core. This is a recoverable loss, but it will not be easy for them by any stretch of the imagination.

I've been told that, as a Liberal, I'm overly optimistic, but I don't feel that's the case. On the other hand, my optimism will be worthless if my party can't get it's own ******** act together, no matter how shaky our opponents may be in the long run.

I dunno, Bob Rae and Mike Crawley are doing a fantastic job so far (Crawley essentially adopted my idea for an online policy process and my idea for Young Liberal clubs into his platform, which was cool. He's pushing my concept at the board, but some folks seem to be against it for some reason.)

Furthermore, a lot of Riding Associations are lifting themselves up from the shitter, and there's a huge anti-incumbency sentiment. There's still quite a bit of work to be done, like in my Riding Association which is closed as hell, has 1 female for every 50 males, and holds riding meetings at our losing candidate's house.

Overall, I would say your optimism is very well placed, for now.

I personally find that losing as miserably we did was the best thing that could have ever happened to the Liberals.
