Think about it real hard, and you'll realize it.

Really? Then why did the CCCP throw in the towel and not NATO in the early 90's?
it then became a super pain in the a**
In the face of economic and military statistics; I'mma say no.
I think you read that history book backwards or something...
We poured all our resources into winning a war thet drug on forever, and eventualy came home defeated.

Then, 9/11 happened, and we did it again. and our economy is in the shitter even worse.

And now, people want to go and invade iran.
Why?

I will agree with the rest friend.
I think the defeat in Vietnam forced the U.S. to turn into more careful and intelligent ways
The invasion of Vietnam was purely a war of influence.
The war in Iraq and Iran nowadays is also a war of influence and economical interest but it has the mark of terrorism.

Of course this is my opinion...i realize there are many things i might ignore.
Modern warfare though is not militaristic only. It is also economic. And Wall Street dominates the economical world right now.
You ever notice no other country besides the U.S is criticized in this forum?

I hope you understand that most of the people on this forum are Americans and among them there's far more awareness of what's going on in the United States than there is awareness of the rest of the world. That said, you're either new or have a shitty memory because other notable international topics have come up in the past. The Alberta tar sands here in Canada have come up in the Keystone XL Pipeline threads and before that, there was the ban on minarets in Switzerland, the Muhammed editorial cartoons scandal in Denmark, France's burqa ban, the cartel wars in Mexico, the 2009 Maguindinao Massacre in the Phillipines, the 2011 massacre in Norway, various stories about China's present economic warning signs, the Israel-Palestine conflict, the wars in the Middle East, multiple threads on disaster relief efforts throughout the 2000s and their sometimes unforeseen consequences in multiple countries, African genocides, the present state of Somalia and related pirate attacks... the list goes on. Yes, they do tend to get drowned out, but they ARE there.

If you feel that something a country has done has gone unnoticed or without criticism then MAKE THE THREAD YOURSELF. If you haven't got anything like that but just want to b***h and moan then I'll let BTMI do the rest of the talking for me.

I wonder when people will come to the realization that real power no longer rests in the nation-state. If it ever did, which I sometimes doubt.

Just because the United States has a big, powerful military doesn't mean that it's king of the world. Big, powerful economies don't mean that, either, especially with how fluid "an economy" is as an entity. Main thing that's going for us at the moment is that we have a lot of land mass that we aren't entirely done using yet. And people still like dollars.

Uh, yeah, I just joined last year, so I wouldn't know. I don't see it as bitching to point out something I noticed
