The North Koreans are just itching for war and the people there are so brainwashed that there like a rabid bulldog on a short chain lead bawing for the blood of the south. After that? Who the hell knows. Ever play the game homefront? Maybe the story line in the game aint to far from fact if the North Korean's get there way

Actually no. North Korea wants to manipulate the situation to see what they can get out of it. Having South Korea and Japan in their range only helps hold the region as a hostage.

What I love are these new fake-looking things:

Of course it is, Of course it is.

Fun little series questions, if you think that games storyline isn't to far from fact. Please provide adequate, intelligent, logical responses.

1. Kim Jong Un convinces currently conservative, and anti-North Korean, South Korea to unite. How does he achieve this? "Our plan will reunite families and economies." that is all. He also won the Nobel Peace Prize for this daunting and intricately explained act. However it was apparently in North Korean favour, given that the united Korea adopts the North Korean flag.

Please explain how exactly Old Un'y achieves peaceful reunification under a North Korean government using a plan that "reunites families and economies" and little else. Keep in mind the recently re-elected Conservative, Anti-North Korean government is in power in South Korea.

2.China collapses because because. Stop asking questions.

The game claims China collapses (removing a great power that would opposing this great change in regional power) but never goes into great details about how or why China collapses. All there really is to it is a little graphic of a tattered Chinese flag saying "The Rise and Fall"

Please explain how this fall from growing Global Superpower to not even a regional power capable of stifling a potential rival in their infancy occurs.

* A fun little aside here. I heard the game originally intended to use China as their aggressor. However the company didn't want to lose the Chinese market forever. Eerily similar to the remake of Red Dawn, which I hear has also changed their antagonist from China to North Korea, likely relying on a similarly nonsensical timeline. China could work better, but herp derp we don't wanna lose that market. Let's make them North Korean and call the baloney we come up with "Highly plausible."

3. Russia and Ukraine sign an agreement to cut off oil sales to Europe, weakening Europe and putting them in no place to aide poor America? Why? Is it ever explained for what reason a resource based industry would decide to cease and desist with sales? Nope. And as with question 2, stop asking questions.

3. Now, as a Canadian I particularly enjoyed this one. Canada cuts of America, our biggest ally, protector, economic partner, and a hundred other things of great importance? I mean, holy s**t, Harpers plans of making Canada some rising power by A) Selling Oil from Alberta B) Investing in the Military C) Buffing up the economy must work out DAMN GOOD that we can cut off America in about ten years. Looks like I've got a bright future. Why, and North Korea completely ignores us in their invasion. Sorry, your future is so dim Americans.... If this all is fact, damn our streets are going to be paved with gold. Mexico seems to come out pretty well too, also being strong enough to cut off America. But kidding aside, why did this occur? Wasn't the "Knoxville Cough" issue, that happened three years after this. Didn't questions 2 and 3 teach you anything? Stop asking questions.

Yes, this all doesn't seem far from fact at all. As a Canadian let me say, well done Mr. Harper. Well done. Apparently you make us so powerful that within the next decade we can afford to cut off America. VERY well done.

Real estate market collapses, after intensive over-development which has led to outrageous prices for empty housing complexes. Construction industry, naturally, suffers. Banking institutions are likely to suffer losses.

Could be widespread popular unrest (such as labor conflicts), police crackdowns bring about urban warfare.

The rise of North Korea is the more implausible of the two. Actually, China's about due for attempts to unseat Gorbachev.

Perhaps. Although if it were so simple, one would think that the creators of Homefront could be bothered to give more than "The rise and fall" and a graphic.

Although, let's face it, other than HUR DUR MARTIAL LAW IN AMERICA and HUR DUR, AMERICA R INVADED, TIME FOR SURVIVALIST GURRILA WAR!

They couldn't be bothered to provide detail for anything. Thus we get reunification of the two hostile Koreas with "A plan to reunite families and industry" and little else, Canada closing the border to America, our most important ally, for no apparent reason and Russia/Ukraine cutting of Europe for... again.... No apparent reason.

Not a big fan of Red Dawn scenarios, myself. Aside from that Red Dawn was basically a screed against gun control, with a communist invasion standing in for the US government. Whole concept of an invasion and occupation of the US is pretty far-fetched; it'd have to be a military comparable to our own, in particular with an air force and navy that are equivalent to our own, and supply chains that can cross an ocean to maintain their troops and equipment. Hasn't happened once so far, and we've fought modern militaries before.

Soviet first strike'd be plausible enough.

The Koreas are destined to rejoin eventually. And their history and geography is such that they will never really merge with Japan or China.

Basically a prolonged Germany incident. Though we should take note of what happened to Germany then, because while it's an idea, it will be much worse.

That said, they would do well with tourism. If for nothing but morbid curiosity.

South Koreans are very aware of what happened when Germany reunited and were/are in the process of joint ventures to help bring the North slowly up to speed in the right way. Unfortunately, other events tend to get in the way.

North Korea has a natural resources, and the South has the technology and industrial base to take advantage of it.

They do well with their tourist industry....NK that is.

As for eventual reunification, I doubt it. The main reason is economically it will destroy South Korea.

A lot of those policies along with the SunShine policy I thought were taken out due to the now conservative parliament? I know some factories are still in the free economic zones in North Korea.

I know it hit the Hyundai Tourist resort in North Korea because a South Korean tourist died because he/she wondered onto a North Korean military base.

The reason Homefront Durps so bad is because it was designed with China in mind, then for political reasons got shifted to N.Korea.

I don't know. Since 1991 the reunification of West and East Germany from 1991-1996 in a goods based market the currency that had no value did well post East Germany. Sure between those dates Germany and the rest of Europe was in a economic slump from that, but in due time its hard to say what will happen. I'm sure similar events will occur with whatever government takes over where people are paid not to work as their factories that worked in are rebuilt.
