So tell me what exactly can a resistance do against this?


Kill the pilot while he's on the ground and out of his jet.

Kill the mechanic who fixes it.

Kill the fuel truck driver who delivers the fuel it uses.


You plan on following a military aircraft all the way back to its airbase to kill the pilot?

When an aircraft attacks, it's not going to be alone, for one. There will always be at least two, but most likely four with at least four more waiting farther off. If it's an A-10, you might see it before it kills you. Or if you weren't in the target area, you might see it as it's passing. They shoot from pretty far off. Granted, they get closer than any other fixed wing and they are big and low flying, it's still pretty hard to spot them if you don't know to look for them. Hell, even if you know one's about but you don't know it's general direction, you may never see it. There's a lot of sky, and it's still a really small aircraft compare to how big the wild blue yonder is.

So say you see it. Say you survive the strafe. You would then have to find out where it is based. Are you going to follow it? Are you going to follow a jet? If you want to make the attempt, I'm going to save you some time and let you know that it can't be done without another aircraft or something. Even if you find a land vehicle fast enough, that jet does not have to follow roads, and will go over whatever the ******** it pleases on the most direct or safe route home. So lets say you find out where the jet is. Maybe you just knew. Well, guess what? He's not parking his jet in the middle of a field. He's not landing that thing on Farmer Dan's dirt runway. To land most military aircraft at all, you need a specifically designed runway. To house, maintain, and launch many military aircraft,you need specifically accommodating airfields. Not any old jet can just land at any old airport.

So chances are, if you find this jet, you're going to have trouble shooting the pilot. He is going to land on that tarmac, taxi to the staging area, then head on inside for his debrief. Remember, 300m is a far shot for most trained soldiers. 500m is the max range on our M4's. How far do you think it is between the perimeter of an airbase to the staging area of an aircraft? You may think you're clever, but the military knows. The military knows that if they just let their pilots pop out of their jets on the side of the road, someone is going to try to shoot them. You're going to have to take the shot outside of the perimeter without any of the base security taking notice of you. You'll have to get past the LP's and patrols, and you'll have to hide yourself from the RAID towers and perimeter guards. So lets say you get within 600m without being detected by all the guards and the IR cameras. 600m is a respectable range for a sniper. So you shoot the pilot, then the guards will undoubtedly find and kill you. Guess what runs out of the building to check the ruckus? About forty more pilots. You managed all of that. Finding your pilot. Finding you airfield. Making it within shooting range. Killing the guy. All of that for one man. One pilot out of thousands in the military.

The mechanic and truck drivers would be just as hard. The mechanic isn't going out onto the tarmac. If a jet is broken, they'll probably bring it into the hanger to be worked on because this guy isn't going to lug his tools out to the staging area. You'd have to get him inside the building. The fuel truck driver is going to be in a heavily, heavily protected convoy. Then again, if you kill these men, you're killing a single man within an Army.

You are not going to solely kill a pilot on the ground, his mechanic, or one of the supply convoy drivers. You are not going to stop the combined air forces of the US military by killing one of three men. You, individually, with no competing technology, are not going to be able to do s**t to affect US air power. First world nations can hardly compete with US air forces.

From boots hitting the ground to the Iraqi military's surrender was about a month. Hussein was captured six or seven months after that, tried and executed by hanging within the first few years of his incarceration.

The Battle of Tora-Bora (alluded to above) in Afghanistan was a different deal, because of course, that was a matter of pounding the mountains for five days trying to kill a target who was in a posh million-dollar villa in Abottabad. Kind of problem you run into relying on next-to-no intelligence in a country where the terrain, language and culture are unfamiliar and nobody particularly likes or trusts you.
