Was this an AP class or not? I do get it, I also noticed that the trends of recession and the unemployment rate relationship (and the difference between other incdicators such as the Stock Market).

The health of an economy is more than just the unemployment rate, is it not?
AP class? There are none of these as far as I am aware in university.

The health of the economy is the health of the people. The people being the producers and consumers. All things lead to this.

AP Class is basically a college course.

Prove the health of the economy is the health of the people.

lrn2economics. Lag is lag is lag is lag.
I've taken econ before. There is no justification behind calling it a lagging indicator. Fact is until the people are employed they are no better off, no matter how high the DOW goes.
Taking econ and learning Econ are two different things. And yes there is, have you noticed that at the trough of a recession the unemployment rate is lower?
Back up. First we must define what the economy is. "the system of production and distribution and consumption", or in otherwords the people who work (eg produce) and the people who consume.

So your question is basic is "have you noticed that when the economy is bottoming out there are less people working and less people consuming". My basic answer to this is NOOOOO, REALLY?!.
With no people there is no economy.

FYI, aggregrate demand and aggregrate supply can be improving while unemployment is increasing. Firms lay off employees as the economy deteriorates to cut costs as they reduce capacity, leaving with only the necessary employees they need for current demand. However, employees are not hired again until current capacity can longer meet the current demand, and additional investment is required. Since investments typically happen while the economy is growing, i.e. during the recovery, improvements to employment occur after other parts of the economy. Hence, it lags.

What university did you go to? I need to warn people away from there if they're teaching that the state of the economy can be boiled down to just unemployment.

Actually, I think your limiting what an economy is. I also see logical fallacy in your statements.

I should warn people to stay away from people who strawman other people.

I pointed out your fallacy, being that you strawmaned me and where you did. You have yet to reply to this so this means you do not have one to make.
And I, yours.

Unless, I am unable to grasp the eloquent subtleties of your writing, you are seen here contesting the fact that "the health of an economy is more than just the unemployment rate" and buttressing your argument with glib observations about the nature of an economy.

This is also in line with previous statements such as:
Raywazza
Remember, the economy is the abstract concept of consumers and producers. So once there are more people with jobs (eg producers) the economy will continue to lack consumers and stay in the pits.
...where you are directly correlating the health of the economy with the employment situation, in support of your principal argument that unemployment is not a lagging indicator.

If that is not your argument, then your composition skills are terribly poor. Which really only reinforces my need for the name of your University, as now I must warn away prospective English majors as well as students interested in subjects regarding economics.

It would appear you should stop making snyde remarks and actually take time to read what was typed.
Wow. In addition to not disputing my analysis, you're agreeing with it. Yet, you are still going to conclude with a "lrn 2 reed lol"?

Trust me, if I had any hope for your responses to be enlightening in any way at all, I would cut out the snide remarks. Till then, I am adding logic to the list of reasons why I need to ward people off from your university, so I am really going to need that name of your university, because as that rate this is going we're going to end up needing a full human rights initiative, and I don't want that on my conscience.

You again have not listed even a single arguement, just more personal attacks. Therefore since this is habitual you are in default and automatically concede. Good day sir.

Haha. As if this was ever about winning the argument. You are really slow to catch on, aren't you?

Besides, you're on the list. You lost in the eyes of ED-P before this ever begun.

... I do still want that university's name though.

Let me summarise the debate with you.

You give long paragraph incorrectly summing up what you think my position to be.
I rebuttle pointing out this is not my position.
You make a post backing what I said.
I point out it backs what I said.
You make a bunch of personal attacks.

You have effectively lost.
