The numbers for unemployment thrown by the White House are bullshit since Bush.

So, where's the news?

Never said they weren't, Res. You know that. What have we done? We went from a white idiot to a black idiot. Wow.
I wouldn't say that Obama is a complete idiot, but alas, still an idiot.

He's a complete idiot, on the very least at par with Bush. He may talk with less of an accent and be able to read a teleprompter with no effort, but that isn't impressive.
He's taking ignorance to sites not seen in a long time.
As a president, you're the public face of America, your only job is to look good.

Obama has that down.

Well by Brothern because it reaffirmed his lucky guessing super powerz. And won him 10k in play money.

By me and every other conservative political junkie because it makes Democrats (deservedly) look bad and improves our chances substantially of stalling legislating and getting our candidates elected.
You can take that mindset and devote it to football... but keep politics to those who are actually concerned for the well-being of their country.

BlueCollarJoe

No one is saying it is a positive. Not even Brothern.
Unami must have misinterpreted something then.

I always wondered what Obama would get first that was European-style...

Looks like unemployment wins.

I'm still trying to figure out why this news is being seen as a positive by any American...

Bingo.

Then maybe people will remember that it wasn't so damned bad with Bush around. I long for the day when our budget deficit was only 330 billion. Rather than 3+ TRILLION.

Don't worry my son. At least Nixon looks better now. As bad, sorta hard when Bush Administration made it that way.

LOL @ giving unemployment numbers. Unemployment is a lagging indicator of the health of the economy.

It's a sign of how far conservatives have come from their roots that instead of gloomily predicting that policies will fail, they're actively hoping for that failure.

It's a stark distinction, really.

Exactly. It could be even worse than we think.

Had a Happy Thanksgiving. Captain broke the lockdown order and drove to a McDonalds over an hour away and got us all Big Macs! I'm thankful for Officers who say &******** you" to rules every now and then. ^_^

Or it could be better. Lag is lag is lag.

Oh, and the obvious political ramifications will be that it could potentially bite the Democrats in the butt precisely because most people don't know that these indicators lag, and can easily be spun and manipulated as a result. Not rocket science. This assumes that the Democrats fail to play a decent spin game by painting the negative economic outlook as a result of Republicans dragging feet or being otherwise uncooperative. Given their failure to do so in the past, my money's no the Republicans gaining on these indicators if they remain relevant enough in future debates.

Indeed. Some analysts are looking at 11 percent.

AP: What Recovery? Unemployment shoots past 10 percent

Quote:
Economists had not expected the 10 percent mark to come so quickly and immediately darkened their forecasts. Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody's Economy.com, and Joshua Shapiro, chief U.S. economist at MFR Inc., predicted the rate will peak at 11 percent by mid-2010. They earlier had projected 10.5 percent.

Unemployment at 11 percent would be a post-World War II record. Only once since then has joblessness hit double digits in the United States — from September 1982 to July 1983, topping out at 10.8 percent.

"It's not a good report," said Dan Greenhaus, chief economic strategist for New York-based investment firm Miller Tabak & Co. "What we're seeing is a validation of the idea that a jobless recovery is perfectly on track."

Obama's going for new high score.
