The excuse that 'we must push the boundaries regardless of risk' falls flat when you realize they're really a bunch of pussies. Hollywood, it can't make something like that. If it gets good reviews, the muslim world will have rekindled hatred for western society, insurgent groups will be all uberpowerful, and the Oscar will go to someone else anyways. True enough, but it is still counter to what they claim. I don't quite get your perspective on this. Are you upset that this film doesn't include Mecca, or are you upset that it includes the Vatican and other religious symbols? I am an equal opportunity a**. If you're gonna blow up the Vatican or some other holy sites to 'make it impact' then either have the balls to do them all or don't do any. This 'well, we'll insult this religion/destroy their holy sites' but leave this one alone because they're scary' is ******** stupid and cowardly. Yeah, but they really would kill people over it. Remember those comic strips- those Muslims shot people over photos, comic strips, and dumb s**t like that. I live in NY- for sure, we'd get attacked again, and I'm still not over 9-11. Terrorists don't care who they kill. They'll bomb the subways or something- and they won't be thinking about 65 year old grandma's coming home from a Dr.s appointment, or cute, chubby Tigresses coming home from school... for a movie, its not worth it. |

I don't think this has anything really to do with being PC or not, it has more to do with pissing off a minority few who would be crazy and stupid enough to kill over a movie. It's like not potraying a gang faction in a bad light because they might retaliate with force.

Supa Beanie This is stupid, seriously, the media is still claiming that the muslims are a peaceful people. While we have a president who constantly gets caught with his head down their pants kissing both cheeks. I would hope we all know better than to think people like that are harmless, they already plot to destroy America and Israel and they have control of the U.N. They won't stop there, if they succeed in taking either country out, it's a tossup about who's next, England? France? Italy? Russia? Japan? China? Take your pick of countries that are not run by Islam yet which the numbers of them get smaller and smaller everyday. Anyone who thinks they aren't inherrently dangerous people are being willfully ignorant and naive. They're ruthless murderers and will not stop until the whole world is under Islamic rule, that is their goal. Our own society is drowning us as well in a sea of touchy feely politics that just make it easier for them to get away with stupid s**t like this. It's a movie, suck it up and move on like the rest of the religions have to. *Facepalm* And I thought 9/11 truthers were bad. Taken over the UN? Seriously? If you have a problem with Islam and the Islamic countries, that's one thing, but at least present something that comes close to a semblance of reality. |

Goes like this: -Emmerich decides to make a movie. Or some producers do, and hire Emmerich. Whatever. -Its a disaster movie. No, THE disaster movie. Therefore, s**t must blow up. -Religious icons make for great bullshit-controversy and sell well, therefore, must blow some of them up. -Vatican is an awesome target (do they do the Western Wall or anything else? Not sure what else there is....) -Blowing up Mecca worries Emmerich and his producers, for fear of, say, a fatwa. -Also, it won't make muslims come see the movie. Blowing up the Vatican, on the other hand, while it will piss some Catholics off, will also make not-as-devout Catholics or ex-Catholics come see the movie. -Profit wins, therefore, don't blow up mecca. Its not worth the possible risk. Its like a profit-risk scenario, but as much bullshit as the rest of any supposed s**t about 'political correctness' or anything else. Also: The majority of americans and other western religions are bound by the laws of their nations, which tend to be based not on religion but on culture and judiciary process. In contrast: Many muslims live in countries where the zealots are in charge, and law is based on religious documents. So like I said: profit-risk. Its not as profitable to blow up mecca. So shut the ******** up you free market people. And if anyone wants to take that last point about western civ being civilized because of christianty and muslim's not because of Islam, feel free. History ******** your argument into tiny little pieces though. TO SUM IT ALL UP: Emmerich is a p***y and should have blown up Mecca AND the Western Wall. |
