it really was quite stupid. Even stupider is that in new reports, the arresting officer who refused to accept the professor's id? He's refusing to issue an apology. Even after the President called him out. That's stupid, right there.

Where are you getting that the officer refused to accept Gates' ID?

The president is stepping over the line. He and the professor happen to be buds, after all. Of course, he's not making that abundantly clear, is he?
Nor the fact that Gates REFUSED to show ID when the cops first arrived. And that the reason the cops were called was that he was seen forcing the door open.
But, since it's a black man and a white cop, it's automatically the cops fault. ******** facts, ******** what happened, and the fact that he wasn't arrested for B&E.
Obviously, the sheer concept of pulling an ID out and showing who you are when questioned is something that Harvard professors don't have to do until they are going to be arrested.
And, of course, insulting someones parentage is perfectly acceptable since it's a professor doing so who refuses to show his ID.

So, anyone want to try and defend Obama for this?

A defense for Obama is a slam dunk because Obama did not call the police stupid. Read over the Obama quote again:

Obama

"I don't know, not having been there and not seeing all the facts, what role race played in that [Gates case]. But I think it's fair to say, number one, any of us would be pretty angry; number two, that the Cambridge police acted stupidly in arresting somebody when there was already proof that they were in their own home; and, number three, what I think we know separate and apart from this incident is that there's a long history in this country of African-Americans and Latinos being stopped by law enforcement disproportionately. That's just a fact."

"Acted stupidly" means that the actions of the police were very very very....VERY umm...could we say...stupidly? The cops arrested a black man on a false police call and it was his property to begin with. The person who originally made that false call should have been arrested, and not Gates.

That's why Obama is saying that the actions perform were "stupidly".

The entire OP is a big fat

Liar? What part of didn't immediately show his ID confuses you? Your source never states that he immediately provided ID. Merely that he did. When?

Nuff said.

Edit: Also you are using a biased interview from Fox news. Give me a break, really.

And that is contradictory to the other article. So, no, not enough said. Neither of us know enough to determine much of anything. Except it's pretty clear the cop isn't a racist.

Obama needed to butt out when the news media asked him about the situation? Really, he answered the question to the best of his ability. Don't tell me he has to butt out of forming an opinion of the officer's actions.

Except you used a biased source ala Faux News from the officer's perspective. Quite obvious that the whole article is a sham.

It's not his place to have a public opinion. Doesn't your mother say to you that you need to butt out when she's in an argument with someone else? That's what my mother always taught me.

Umm, the President is a public official and he holds the highest office in the land and he isn't allowed to have a public opinion?

Are you kidding me?

Let me get this straight. You are defending the police officers arresting a noted scholar for
From the police report
"exhibiting loud and tumultuous behavior, in a public place, directed at a police officer who was present investigating a report of a crime in progress." t

Because apparently someone's home is now a public place and a person can now be arrested for being ******** pissed at the police bothering him. Was he committing a crime? No. Did he own the house? Yep. Did the police report even question that he owned the home? Nope! They arrested him for yelling.

So why are you supportive of the police state paradigm?
