Very true, but their permit that allowed them to camp out had in fact, expired.
They never had a permit, the police just chose not to enforce the NPS regulation that prohibits camping in the area.

Not to mention they had trashed the place; there was filth and rats all over, and the places smelled of feces and all around uncleanliness.
I saw one picture that was supposed to be rats in the camp, but there was no source or anything to indicate it was because of poor health conditions. I have seen quite a few sources that say they've passed regular health inspections, though.

You can't have a reaction without an action; no effect without a cause. There are Occupy-ers complaining about how they are unjustly arrested and etc, when they are arrested in the first place because of violent riots, vandalism and harassing officers. There is a difference between a smoke bomb and a brick to the face. They can cry all they want about how the tear gas hurts their eyes, but a brick to the head can cause some serious trauma and doesn't just go away when you flush your eyes with water.
And so, if there is no effect without a cause, why do you think they get violent and harrass officers? Why do you think they're there in the first place.

I find it sad that in the beginning the police were on their side, were there to protect them and both interacted peacefully. But then Occupy became rowdy, and turned their backs on people that could have been a powerful ally.
Right, they just turned rowdy for no reason at all.
