Hey, at least the chair ride didn't kill him like it killed Scott Norberg, right? Well, it might not have been the chair- it could have been the stun guns or the towel shoved in his mouth. Joe Arpaio personally conducted an investigation of that incident and "surprisingly" found no evidence of wrongdoing on the part of the officers involved. The lawsuit found differently to the tune of $8 million, possibly because he got caught destroying evidence again. A man of principle, Joe publicly addressed Norberg's family and stated that he essentially got what he deserved because he was a drug addict and besides only bad people are in jail anyway. Yeah, Joe sure does love him some wrongful-death lawsuits, combined with all of his other suits, he's a defendant in almost fifteen hundred cases- if they all come to settlement, Maricopa taxpayers could pay up to $50 million. They turned off the AC as punishment and Lance Hawthorne died of heat exhaustion. His body temperature was measured at 109 degrees shortly after his death. Who would put a 314lb guy with a known and documented heart condition in a cell with no AC in AZ? Joe Arpaio, that's who. Arpaio has a reality show on Fox called "Smile You're Under Arrest." The premise of the show is to use big-breasted women and promises of a $300 prize to get people with nonviolent warrants to show up at a nightclub taken over by Joe for this purpose, and filled with paid actors and undercover cops (all at county expense). Then they have to participate- on national television- in either a fashion show or a dancing contest. Joe hides behind a curtain or under a covered table during all this; and after the fashion show or dancing contest is over, he jumps out and arrests them. Meanwhile over 40,000 felony warrants, many of them for rape or murder, go unserved and the homicide rate has jumped 167%. I'm not making this s**t up. In the last 5 years alone, Maricopa County taxpayers have had to pay over thirty MILLION bucks to settle prisoner abuse, excessive force, wrongful death lawsuits. The sheriffs rolled up- in an APC- to this dude's house without being marked as law enforcement and started suiting up in their armor in his yard, he watched out the window them thinking it was a prank on his neighbor. Imagine his surprise when they fired gas grenades through the window which burned it to the ground! Then they drag the owners outside and hold them hogtied with submachine guns to their heads while they "neutralize" their puppy (shooting a fire extinguisher in its face), chase it back into the fire where it burns to death, and make fun of the woman for crying about it. In the meantime, they forgot to put the brake on the tank so it rolled down the street and crushed another woman's car. The puppy's corpse rotted for days in the ashes, because they never went back to clean up any of the mess. All of this happens in a densely-populated neighborhood as children look on. They thought the owners had illegal guns and "cop-killer" bullets inside, which was the reason for the raid, but when there weren't any the arrested one of the owners for outstanding traffic citations so as not to leave empty-handed. "Arpaio's Ahwatukee assault should have drawn banner headlines in the daily newspapers. But the Arizona Republic, where Arpaio's son-in-law, Phil Boas, serves as deputy editor of the editorial pages, buried the story in a community section."
