Warning! I don't give a s**t if you come in here with all your BBC bullcrap. Sorry, but it's not accessible to all of us here in the states, alright? Therefore, let's keep discussion on US media sources please.

http://mediamatters.org/items/200807020002

Funny? Kinda. I'd be laughing if it weren't for the fact that this was done during a serious report and not another failure of a "comedy" show.

So can we just admit it and realize that Fox News is trolling us all? Stop acting like they're even trying to be a serious, reputable news source.

Oh, and let's not even start with how bad their graphics department is... I can see the pixels and warping.

(Thanks ChronoSpark. You were dead-on with your analysis)

It surprises me that such an incident isn't being considered a form of libel. They photoshopped the pictures and then presented them as fact, not once informing the audience that they had been altered, which could lead one to believe that those were actual stock photos of the two guys.

Now, if someone were to take a quote someone said and change it drastically and then present it as that person's words, that's on the boundary of libel, is it not?

Granted, libel presents the idea of damaging a person's character. But I think that such photos could, in essence, be construed to do such.

The fact that it's on such ethically shaky ground should alert people to how depraved such an act is.

One cannot excuse FOX simply by saying "it's entertainment, not news." Well, unfortunately, FOX does not present itself as actual faux news. We're not talking about The Daily Show or Colbert Report. The Daily Show isn't allowed to moderate Presidential debates. We're talking about a national news organization that presents itself as fair, balance, unbiased journalism in the same vein as something such as, YES, the New York Times, or perhaps the LA Times, or maybe CBS or ABC News. The list goes on. And one cannot call the bias these sources have comparable to that of FOX.

If FOX wants to be taken as a serious news source, then it, and we, should hold it to higher standards regardless of the filth we know it produces. Shame on them.

They just suck at Photoshop, maybe they need lessons from Comedy Central on patronizing those you want to make fun of.

Or they could take lessons from CNN on how to be a respectable and objective news source.
This kind of childish behavior belongs on those comedy shows like Stewart and Colbert, but when people try to tell me that Fox News is as reliable and unbiased a source as CNN, stories like this just hurt that argument.

I don't worry too much on this because I don't watch Fox News. But I've seen some childish reactions to others watching Fox News in public areas. "OMG!! THIS IS SUCH BULLSHIT!!!! PROPOGANDA!!! FEEDERS OF FALSEHOODS!!! THIS COUNTRY IS DISGUSTING TO ALLOW SUCH PROGRAMING!!!" Then they don't seem to understand why people call them "crazy liberals."

I usually agree with you, but... I'm lazy, so I'll just copy/paste something I wrote on another blog.

I just dropped by CNN.com when I noticed an interesting headline: "Obama, McCain in statistical dead heat". Well, of course such a headline jumped out at me, so I thought I'd check it out.

Quote:
With just over four months remaining until voters weigh in at the
polls, the CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey out Tuesday
indicates that among registered voters nationwide, Obama holds a
5-point advantage over the Arizona senator, 50 percent to 45 percent.

...
CNN polling director Keating Holland notes that Tuesday's survey
confirms what a string of national polls released this month have
shown: Obama holds a slight advantage over McCain, though not a big
enough one to constitute a statistical lead.

Wait a second, hold on... Obama leads by five points, and it's a statistical dead heat? So that must mean the MOE is greater than or equal to 5, correct?

Quote:
The poll, conducted June 26-29, surveyed 906 registered voters and
carries a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.

Now, ok, the article does say that when factoring in Bob Barr and Ralph Nader, Obama holds a 46-43 lead. But that's certainly not what the headline states. And it's not the main point of the article.

Yeah, I'd say CNN is twisting the truth quite obviously there. Not the kind of s**t that FOX pulls, but honestly, it's still not fair and objective reporting.

Biased, much?

You know, there's more than just "crazy liberals" as you so eloquently put it, who dislike FOX News and know there's an extremely huge bias toward the right. They don't even try to hide it. It IS bullshit. They ARE feeders of falsehoods. They consistently spread rumors of Barack Obama being a Muslim, for example, despite that claim having been debunked numerous times before they ever said a thing about it. They're a pathetic excuse for a news organization. Period.

How is it crazy to be offended by this? It wasn't some sort of accident that those photos ended up that way: it was a deliberate attack on New York Times reporters. Also notice how Fox labeled them as "attack dogs", suggesting that the NYT has an agenda and these two individuals are the ones who carry out that agenda against others.

Fox countered an "attack" with an attack

FOX presents itself as "fair and balanced." In fact, they have a little notice saying so in the bottom right-hand corner. Not to mention the "no spin zone." Maybe if they actually stopped trying to come across as an actual news organization to be taken seriously, I could stomach your argument. But since they won't, I can't.
