Divide and Rule

Our political system often doesnt get enough done, we are too busy argueing and not budging an inch to the opposing side, and we never settle on a middle ground. We try left and right, or red and blue progress, what about white progress? Progress both sides can agree on?

We can't do anything that frequently because of Divide and Rule I argue. The news is a bunch of propaganda half the time, on s**t that is hardly relevant to our lives, just for some veiws and money.

Everyone complains about fox and cnn leaning too far to their sides and being untrustworthy.

I think Divide and Rule has culturally been absorbed, or is being promoted from politicians to divide people on certain issues to slow them down from passing certain types of laws.

Or they promote certain laws to certain audiences who will vote them in in certain areas. For example, in one state you can open a casino in another state they would forbid you from doing that, you are going to go to that state, where it gets voted in because you can win over the people to allow it. For a company its a win-win situation. They can abuse our differences to benefit, while we are stuck with the argueing and no real progress, the companies have real funds so that location hardly matters and they can pursue their goals alot easier.

Agreed. I think you're right; half of the problem with the dichotomy is that they're locked in the tug-of-war circus. But the only way to get freedom is to give it.

The only way to break that stalemate is to allow the (illusionary) "other side" their chance to "feel in control", while you simply act according to conscience (still getting things done, of course).

You don't ask someone putting your face in the mud to let you up - you trip them and rise at the same time, reversing your positions. Allowing an opponent to see things from your perspective is one of the only ways a compromise is ever reached.

So, kick the rich elite out of their mansions and make the mansions into homeless re-education institutions w/ start-up incubators (two birds w/ one stone). The system will back the theory up if the homeless can prove themselves to be better taxpayers and generate more revenue than a single rich family. For instance, if each homeless person was required not just to have a job but start a business making more taxpayers in exchange for their stay there...

All it takes is one good lawsuit to make it happen... wink

You don't have to choose your ideas from a set of all one or all the other, nobody made that law. (And if they did, it'd be a crappy law.) In reality, people and political organizations represent a spectrum of beliefs and policy preferences.

Anyway, th' red/blue conservative/liberal Republican/Democrat Socialist/Fascist thing is a false dichotomy. You don't have to choose your ideas from a set of all one or all the other, nobody made that law. (And if they did, it'd be a crappy law.) In reality, people and political organizations represent a spectrum of beliefs and policy preferences.

Which is why I mentioned the color white as being the third option that red and blue have in common or are exempt from, as a common ground, no intended white power remark.
