Welcome to Gaia! ::

At least according to a GOP voters in Mississippi and Alabama anyway.

Quote:
Ask President Barack Obama about his religious affiliation, and he's a Christian. Ask Mississippi or Alabama voters, and you might find a different answer.

In the midst of tight GOP primaries in both states, Public Policy Polling (PPP) has released information showing that a majority of likely GOP primary voters in the Deep South do not see Obama as a Christian. PPP's Alabama survey of 600 likely GOP primary voters found that only 14 percent consider Obama a Christian, while 45 percent said he is a Muslim and 41 percent answered that they were not sure.

A similar picture surfaced in Mississippi. Of 656 likely GOP primary voters surveyed, 12 percent said Obama was a Christian, 52 percent classified him as a Muslim, and 36 percent fell in the "not sure" category.

......

The actual survey results from the PPP

Now it should common to ED-P reg that PPP is biased as ******** hell, it's still rather disturbing to see numbers like this popping up four years later. You'd think that after the president spent wasted time during his first term repeatedly telling America that he believes Jesus Christ is the Lord, and providing silly things like his birth certificate to prove he was born in the US to birthers who still refuse to believe that Obama should be the president.

Oh, and here's an even better nugget of damning info for GOP voters down in Alabama and Mississippi:

Quote:
At the end of the survey respondents were also asked, “Do you think that interracial marriage should be legal or illegal.” The right to marriage regardless of race has been in place since 1973, when the United States Supreme Court struck down a number of state laws which prohibited interracial marriage. Despite the decades-long practice, 21% of Republican voters from Mississippi and Alabama still say that interracial marriage should be illegal, and another 12% say they are “not sure.” Sauce

Like I said before, it's pretty clear that the PPP is doing this to paint GOP voters as racist, backward-thinking people who would like to take America back to the 1950s. But DAMN. It's been 39 years since the Supreme Court interracial marriage legal (it feels weird just having to type that). Where the hell did they find these 600 "likely primary voters"?

Kinda explains why Santorum won both states yesterday, even though Romney outspent him.

It feels really depressing to ask this, but will Obama ever be able to please this type of Southern voter?

The Zen Master says, "We'll see....... in about 50 years."

It's like they want him to be both as the same time because it looks that bad for Obama...

And remember, it's just over 1,200 people in two states, that actually set there during a recorded message listening to questions because they had nothing better to do.
I don't trust automated systems on polls, because lets face it, their twelve year old answers the ******** phone and wants to be a d**k? Just pick the obvious dickhead answer.
Wala. You just made the entire state look stupid.

Why're you referring to the first term in the past tense already?
Yes, I am being silly.

Either they have perfected the art of leading questionairres or they just vetted the recipients of their survey.

If it's the former, I really must try and get my hands on one of these.

Well there IS Obama's quote that he would "Side with the Muslims" if things ever went south.

The Dems never really did a good job explaining that one away.

Yeah but I seem to hear the Mulsim crap everywhere.

We got bigger problems in our country and we got many wackos taking it personal with the man like his birth cert and religion.

Kinda of like the Abortion debates.

Some people are saying we got bigger problems and issues and it seems like all congress wants to do is focus what goes on in our personal lives and bedroom.
