He can go both physical and special. Slap a Big Root on him and Giga Drain pretty much becomes a killer. Or you can run a mix of Physical and Special.
Or you can invest in an Aerodactyl.

I think something to do with water moves would be smart, seeing as I need to murder fire frequently but still need it to be a grass type.

Well, as long as it can learn a Grass move, it's perfect. It doesn't have to be Water since Water's power is cut in Sun. It could be Ground and Rock as well.

If you wanna battle it, but it requires perfect timing. Your rules may not allow it to be set up correctly. Typically, you use Agility on the switch, then Substitute 'til your health drops which activates Petaya Berry's Sp. Atk boost. With a Modest nature, that's scary. Give it Surf and Grass Knot to finish up things.
