Violetgaze They are all really good! But I can see some original pokemon designs in there =/ BUT, I do like the Baalaa and it's transformations whee very nice! I hate repeating myself. I came up with these all in my head. Some are evolutions of pre-existing pokemon, but they are still 100% thought up by me. Thanks for the comments guys. Remember, if you have any simple requests for me I can sprite them up biggrin |

Its great to see some fake Pokemon sprites made from scratch instead of just junky edits that most people do (which is seriously disappointing, draw your own, people!) Most of them look like they could be in an actual game, that's how good you are. ;D |

I only have one crit on these. They seem to lack the characteristic dithering of Pokemon sprites. Aside from that, the style is dead-on. Add a little bit of dithering here and there if you're going for the exact style of the games. Aside from that, I love these. The looks/colors/ideas. It's nice to see pixel art around here, too.
As for the edit/original debate, please notice that no one is accusing you if making unoriginal ideas, people are just saying that parts of them look like existing sprites. I personally didn't really notice anything that stoof out (I do not keep a library of Pokemon sprites in my head to compare), I think it is possible that there might be resemblances simply because you sort of have the official Pokemon stuck in your head, not necessarily because you were editing or referencing existing sprites. It happens more often than people think, in all types of art, not just sprites. It's not something to be ashamed of, you just have to realize and admit that maybe, just maybe something may have had more influence on you than you think xP Plus, when working on a sprite that's maybe 64x64 pixels, it's not unlikely that a few body parts might look similar. There is a finite number of ways to draw a leg that's 10px tall and 6px wide, and that number is pretty small. |

 Shocking... I know I already commented on these, but I didn't give CC and it looks like you added some new ones. First of all, overall, I love these! You're an excellent pixel artist and these really look like something straight out of a Pokemon game! I like the designs of a lot of these, especially the Grass starter, and the ideas behind some of them, like the starfish Pokemon that evolves by fainting, are just so original and ingenius. However, the designs of some are unoriginal - I am really glad you don't use official sprites as bases, though! - but I can let those slide since the actual Pokemon games have done this themselves with *cough, cough* Plusle, Minun, Pachirisu! Also, the brain Pokemon would look more Pokemon-ish if a more fantastic color scheme was used since few Pokemon based on RL things - a yellow red-cheeked rat IRL? Puh-leeze! XD - have the same colors like that. Anyway, all in all, I like your work and look forward to more. Would you happen to have any online galleries BTW? ...isn't it? |
