the first picture pose is just kind of weird. And the hairs have too much detail. And the 2nd picture is just kind of weird

But on the first picture Is just that the face is not at the right place.
It's pretty good, but you need to blend in your shading a bit more and her legs well.....they are too stiff. Look at a picture of a friend or a girl from a magazine. Study the bends and curves of their legs. They aren't straight like that. You need some work on proportion but other than that you're doing fine. And I do agree, start drawing realism. Trust me it will help your drawing anime ALOT. I wish that I started drawing realism before anime, it would have made things so much easier. And expand your mediums, start using color pencils or water color. 3nodding 3nodding

pretty decent pics, i see you have a basic understanding of foreshortening as well thats a plus. i'm gonna let the hand and the linky arms go this time since it can be used as a artstyle of a person, but you need to learn to proportion your body out more. a small squished up face is awkward looking on a long skinny body like that...... also please lay off the big eyes..... that is such a amateur way of doing anime style drawings. also you need to study how a women's breast should look in various positions plus they're not coned shaped, less lines in the hair wound be nice as well because theres way too many strands and just makes it horrible to look at. also look at your head anatomy closer in the second pic the top head is pushed down on it. also go easier on the lines.... lighter faster strokes will give you a better line.
Hehehe... the funny qoute part is in green, bold and underlined! xD Sorry but I cant help laughing at that! Sorry Emi if this is annoying but I had to qoute that! xD

My geez, guys =__= It says 'anime' right on the title, if you don't want to look at it, then don't click the thread!

Anyways, you're getting the hang of it, and yes, anatomy needs a little work. Keep up the good work, you're doing great =]

I didn't mean it that way, I meant that it's important to learn to actually draw before you go on such a liner path. Only drawing anime causes a lot of bad habits for artists, believe me.

Yes, yes it does. I myself have a lot of bad habits from it; and I've drawn Anime for a long, long while. :/ I'm trying really hard to get out of it, as it's taking a toll on my self-esteem. Tons of people are drawing anime, but I want to be just one person who sticks out from the crowd and actually has a "style". XD

Critique on the pictures: The first thing that caught my attention was the legs. They look as if they have no shape; just lines. It's not extremely appealing. The body also looks like it has no shape. The arms are rather long; again, unappealing. As with the hands, yes, they are far too big. Drawing big eyes in anime is also a very cliche way of drawing in the anime "style". Not every character has huge-a** eyes. razz

I suggest you take a look at some books that show you how to draw people; or even look online. In fact, I have something that will DEFINITELY help you. smile I was looking for it myself and it is a REALLY good list of tutorials on how to draw a portrait of someone.

there you go. I really hope it helps you; and I cannot wait to see your art once you have gotten better at drawing!
Erm, I am going to say something about the overly lanky arms and huge hands because I haven,t seen an entire full body shot to make me belive it's just style. The arms, including the hands should only come down to about mid thigh, and the hands should never be that big. Huge hands just look funky, and they tend to draw the viewer's attention from the rest of the picture. Also, don't rip the pages out pf the note book unless you have to for like, a scan or something. I hate seeing the little scruffies at the top. They just make everything so untidy and kind of ugly looking. It's kind of a pet peave, though. Every thing else like the lines and shading and the head etc. have already been said, so I won't wast space.

How to get better? Get an anatomy book, and study. If you don't have the cash, then there are planty of tutorials and such on Deviant Art and various other sights. You could also look at other, better artist's work and draw ideas an learn from there as well.
So, yeah. Practice, have fun, and good luck.

*I do not advise getting a how to draw anime book. Not unless you're just a freak and like to pass the time by reading any how to draw book like me, just because.

The arms and legs are a little too skinny, (unless she's supposed to be a child), but you got the foreshortening perfect on the first one. ^^ Also, if you're not going ot color it, your better off shading in the hair and leaving a blank spot for highlights than drawing all thsoe extra lines. ^__^ I know a lot of tutorials and art books tell you to do it that way, but the ultimate goal of those is CG coloring or cell painting. ^^ Hope that helped. Keep it up~

Believe 'em. I got sucked into that black hole of death. Now I want out. D:

Anyhoo, basically what everyone else said. Not the greatest, I'm sick of anime, study anatomy, and stop drawing anime. Oh, and did I mention to stop drawing anime? I don't think I did.

Trust me, Anime is a LOT harder than you would think. It's easier to learn how to draw a real person and then to start to draw Anime, At least you can have a broad scope on what you can draw.

Hoooo yeah. DX

LOL. My captcha just now was an epic win.
Okay, I'm going to voice the unpopular opinion and say that you don't need to stop drawing anime.

You do, however, need to start trying to draw and study other things. Like realism, and human anatomy. If you're like me and drawing is just something you do for fun and don't take it as srs bsns, then it's kind of pointless to force yourself to draw something you don't like. Improvement comes along even through only anime, as long as you truly enjoy what you do.

Now, as for myself, I did draw realism for a bit, which greatly improved my "anime" abilities and allowed me to develop my own style. Contrary to popular belief, "anime" is only a very general style with a multitude of variations, and it's entirely possible to be unique within the scope of "anime". Currently my style fluctuates a bit, depending on my mood... But it's pretty set.

One helpful proportion pointer is that hands should always be just big enough to cover the face when the fingers are spread. People have already pointed you to the techniques and tips on drawing heads, so I won't go into that.... Just keep practicing. ^^
Try doing smoother lines and i think you put too much work into the hair.
