Girl Between The Trains

Gothic Dramatic

Queen Of Broken Hearts

Just a few from my portfolio. I've been doing Film Photography for about 6 months soo far, how is it?
ok you have a start going but all i am going to say is that people are VERY hard to take pic of yyou have to find the BEST pose and lighting and angle for it to turn out good .^^
ok the girl with the trains (your picture titles set the mood so just a plain jane title makes them boring or less interesting ) name your titles based of of your original idea (like say you were thinking of traveling so thats why you have here with trains {this probly isn't what you were thining but it is just an example} so you would title is maybe "off to nowhere fast" or somthing with departing or ariving so it makes the view tink in that set of mind that shes escaping or trying to get away.

I think this pic is good in black'n white like you have it but her pose would be better say if she was walking away with a porpose like walk.^^ but thats what i think. these are things you need to think about when takeing pictures.^^

oh and it is better if the hair is out of the face or at least neater because it looks like it fell into her face and looks kind of bad...

so this is the only one i am going to talk about.^^ cus just think of all you other pics like this and you can make the adjustments but you are at a good start.^^
if you want to look at my work just find photographer and artist in this form.^^
these pictures are pretty nice! do you take a photography class?

I plan to but as of yet I have no formal training. Basically I just read whatever I can and go from there. I also work in film, which has helped me learn much faster than a digital slr could possibly do. I have an indoor set-up for stuff like this:

The Goddess Shiva

I usually just take along a 4 foot reflector and my camera for most of my work.

Basically I just try to get better with every shoot I do.

I'm sorry but I really don't follow anything you've said there.
Okies.

First off, really nice so far.... but...

You really don't want much of the model's face blocked by hair, especially if the picture is focused on her. It sort of makes the viewers eyes float across the picture with nothing to focus on.

On the Girl between the trains one, if her face would have been in view, it would have been a beautiful picture because it has very dramatic lighting.

Also it would have been better if she had heals on instead of flip flops because if you start from top to bottom its like oh nice.... then .... eww... >>

Okies, same with the gothic dramatic, don't have the hair in the face. You're the photographer, they are the model, you basically have control of how they make your art come out.

Oh, and something I learned in Photography in college, NEVER cut off a limb at the joint. You have her foot cut off at the ankle... either pull away some or get in closer so that's not the only thing you cut out.

Her pose looks really awkward too, looks like it was a candid of her standing up or something...

Kay, now Queen of Broken Hearts.... try to never get the subject in the middle of the picture, it makes it boring if she is right in the middle of the picture.
Also, once more you have limbs cut off at the joint, she looks like an amputee on that table...

Try and tell your models to look a certain way that makes them beautiful so your art will come out beautiful.

KK?

You're great.

Edit: OMG! I looked at your MM page and its like you picked the worse pictures from your gallery to put on here! Your other stuff is amazing and you're gorgeous! :'3
Actually my main work is in Fine Art (Artistic Nude), but I can hardly post that here. Nor have I updated my page in a little while now. Most of what I have that I really love is offline since I wouldn't really enjoy having any of my work become someone's myspace background.

Also, seeing through the lens of a film camera is not at all the same as looking at a digital screen. When you're working in area's that are off limits to the public, you gotta work fast. 24 or so shots and that's it. And the majority of what I have displayed are from test shoots.

When I first meet a model, I have to get an idea of how she works and what's she's capable of. She usually brings along about 2 or 3 outfits and changes quickly on the spot where ever we go. It's a bit unusual to ever manage the freedom of being able to get everything you want in the shot, but I make the best of it smile

But honestly this is still very early in my work. I've managed to distinguish myself from the "guy with a camera" label and that seems to be bringing in higher quality models.

I want to jump away from the "pretty people sitting or standing in random places" stuff and get down to very artistic and creative work.

haha, but I doubt I'll ever make an online portfolio with that stuff, since I'm already paranoid about people taking my images from the two portfolio's I already have.
You obviously have some great options for photo shoot sets.

If you are the photographer, do no be afraid to tell you model to do more than they are. If you have a vision, do the most to achieve it. Models are always having to come out of there comfort zone.

As a model, I know from experience.

And if needed, change the part of the hair, that way, when the wind blows, we can still see the model's face.
I told her to put the hair in her face.

Her hair all back made her face look chubby and her chin looked as though it protruded more. Since it was also a different color it stood out better than if she had it back, because the black and white film would make it look like she had a streak of white hair, and then people would have another complaint asking why I was trying to make her look like an old lady with graying hair :-/
My only complaint is with the lighting on the third one. The shadows aren't as prominent as in the first two. And I realize that the third was wasn't taken outside, but that's what flash and lamps are for. :] I took a photojournalism class, but I still don't know much about composition, so I can't critique you there.
I was a bit caught off guard on that shoot since despite being inside, there were no available outlets for my flash umbrellas. I would hardly like using a strait-on flash cause it washes out the image, so I dealt with it best I could with my reflector alone. Just a reminder to bring an extension cord tough.
