Welcome to Gaia! ::

I haven't touched it since Illustrator 8, if that gives you an idea how unfamiliar I am with the program. (And dating myself.)

Clean up of this napkin doodle done during a Shadowrun game. It's a lounge my elf NPC owned. (If you've played, you'll get the play on words.)

I learned the difference between the pencil and the brush tool. The hard way. >_<

Edit: Figured I'd just add this on, instead of making a new topic. Having fun with mah sack. xd

Anyway, feedback, critique, advice, love, hate... Whatever you want to give; I'll take.

Make sure to clean up the lines where they merge. I see how some of your lines, like where the hat is, overlap, making the subject look transparent. And I see what you mean about the brush and pen...lol. You did well drawing the lines themselves though, I'll bet if you clean up the lines like I said, it would be an even nicer picture.

Great expression. I want to put him in my pocket. :B
I use illustrator a lot for work, but honestly I don't prefer it for lines. I mostly use it in designing and lineless cell-shading. However, I do appreciate the line variance it supplies (which you put to good use, but I've seen some of your other inks and would expect no less), but I've heard Manga Studio is better for it.
Looks cute better then what I do smile .

You know what's funny? I mentioned that it was unfinished, but took that out because I thought I was stating the obvious. So much for that. Haha.

I'd rather move on than finish a learning exercise once the lesson's been learned. (Learned not to use the pencil tool if I plan on using the line weight manipulator thing.)

(Edit: Resizing again cause photobucket sucks.)

I think you may be confusing me with someone else. My digital work can be pretty bad.

What do you use for drawing digitally? (I hate photoshop. Always have, always will.) I have sketchbook pro which is pretty okay and I have corel sketchbook or something like that. I like that one because it mimics paper tooth and graphite.

Lol, you're right I was. I looked at your signature pic but not the name of the artist. Sorry.
I've probably been confusing the two of your every time one of you posts because that's just how much I pay attention. XD

In all honesty, I don't draw lineart very well digitally. I usually use traditional ink or scan a sketch and then ink. When I do, it's in photoshop, but I've watched several artists livestreaming in Manga Studio and from what I see and they say, it makes line work a lot easier and smoother.

Ah, yes. I prefer to look at her art when I post than my own. I see mine all the time. xD

She doesn't work digitally, besides tossing in that grey background. It's all ink on paper. She's a comic artist by profession, so she's pretty proficient with the ink. And no, I don't stalk her. Haha. We've been friends for a long time. Goddamn... it's going on 8 years now.

s**t.. I'm old.

These are some things I've inked. (I was looking for one in particular and realized I don't even scan most of my s**t. Haha.

I'm still new to to inking, but I found that I really enjoy working with a brush over microns.

I actually thought her art was traditional, but I wasn't sure (I've read some of her comics on smackjeeves). I've always envied her inks. ;w;

Anyway, I stand by what I said about you being good with line variance though. It shows in those pictures. I really adore the second one. That's definitely a pro to using brushes or nibs as opposed to microns. However, I think when it comes to hatching (like your last image), microns are really useful in keeping it clean. I use brush and micron in combination, but could never get the hang of nibs.

Oh, most def. The microns are great for hatching and architecture. I wouldn't use the brush on non-organic stuff.

And photobucket pixelated my image to hell. >_<

Haa, yes, photobucket is pro at that.
Did a little editing.
Added another drawing.
That lion is way too cute. Your attempt at illustrator is far better than any of mine. ...But I won't speak of those botched...lines.
I love that little sack. ...Hah, sack. The movement is excellent.

You should try them sometime. It's a hell of a lot of fun.

And yeah, there's still one place that I didn't notice the line wasn't connecting at the corner of his mouth. I'll fix it at some point. Thinking of putting this on a shirt.
