This is my first time trying to draw anything actually good. I'm more of a photographer....

so does my picture have any potential at all??

And does anyone have any ideas on how to fix her knees? They're messed up.
help!

I'm gonna have to say no D: Browse through some successful artist's shops or dAs or galleries and try to understand what kind of things they do in their drawings. This is a bunch of symbols that represent an eye, a mouth, some loops for arms, etc. It's an elaborated stick figure. I'm afraid that there is no potential in this drawing, but there might be potential for you to be an artist.

Do not pursue this drawing further.

While that hurt a little bit, thank you for being honest.
Like I said, I'm a little more of a photographer than a "drawer", and I'm kinda new at this.
This drawing was just something I... did.
But anyways I'll keep working at what small faint of talent I just might have, xd

You might get a REWARD!<3
I think everyone has potential, it's how determined you are too improve.
I mean everyone starts of somewhere! I, as well as other people started
of like this, but as I developed an interest in art I knew that if I practiced and studied
enough I can make something of my drawings. If you do not want to pursue drawing
well that's your choice, but if you seriously want to improve the first step is to accept
constructive criticism and using it to your advantage.

My critique: Okay, this is pretty basic drawing but it can definitely be improved
with loads and loads of practice. What I say you should do is draw from a reference,
and not just any reference a realistic reference so you can see how bodies are
properly structured.

I've never seen arms curved like that and I don't think necks are that stick straight
Also last time I checked, my face isn't that round! But all of this can be avoided
if you properly understand the structure of a human body.

Edit: Oh and when I say "loads and loads" of practice, I mean it. Improvement
doesn't come instantaneously. It's very gradual and takes time (months and
years) However, the key to improving is to never give up.

Her arms are as thick as her legs! And round...
No one starts off amazing. The fact that you are willing to try shows potential though.

ok, people, keep posting away, I'll be back in a matter of minutes smile

Well, Its your first attempt. So obviously its not the most amazing picture in the world. However, its much better than what the average person can draw. It took me 7 years to get where I am at today and I still suck compared to others but that's because they have been drawing longer than I have.
Take up on some tutorials, study up on drawing, take a drawing class, hell..trace if you have to. I used to do it and it helped with a few things but don't rely on all of this. You have to learn your own style.
Most of all.. PRACTICE PRACTICE PRACTICE!!!
If your serious on this and if its what you love.. you will go far..

Your Mother
It is good that people are being honest with you. I have a friend who is downright terrible, but, no one has the heart to tell him he is no good.

Do I see raging potential from this picture? No. But, I was once no more than an anime sketcher, and I wound up being an AP art student doing realistic portraits. So, if you keep practicing, you might get better. If you never get beyond the point that you are now, then, I wouldn't get your hopes up about being professional.

But, if it makes you feel good to draw, then draw for you.

You might want to fix your proportions and study up on human anatomy. Her legs are a bit short, you might want to lengthen them. Her body and neck are the same width... the neck should be thinner than the body. Ideally, the face should be less wide and more tall. Keep at it, though. The human body can be difficult to perfect, so keep practicing.

I think you have a lot of potential in the fact that you actually branched out and /drew/.
When I started, my drawings were far worse than this and now I'm planning on going to an art college.

I will have to agree though, that you shouldn't pursue this drawing.
Study anatomy /a lot/ and practice a lot.
That's really the only way to improve.

Exactly what I was going to say.

A good site to help you with poses and getting a more realistic human figure is Posemaniacs.

Just keep practicing. You may not notice any significant differences right away,
But a few months from now - if you keep at it - you're sure to see an improvement.

He wears her close to the bone as though she were his own skin.

Well..... you're the 571259147th person I've seen who jumps into the anime style without studying proportions. Her arms look like rubber and the head is way too big.
You have potential, but this picture does not. Keep practicing and you will improve! smile nobody starts off as a master, everyone was like this at some point.
