Welcome to Gaia! ::

Hi. I have a female betta in my community tank of guppies, tetra and snails. She's been in there for a little over a week now and she hasn't eaten since the day I got her. The reason I got her is because she was attacked by a male betta, who was carelessly put into a sorority tank of females at my local petstore. mad . But I've tried Betta Pellets, flakes, frozen bloodworms, freeze-dried bloodworms and freeze-dried brineshrimp. She'll put the pellets in her mouth, swallow them, then a few minutes later spit them back up, she does the same for the frozen bloodworms. The pellets are pretty small too, so it's not a size issue, I even tried crushing them up. She wont go after the flakes or freeze-dried food. I'm kinda worried since it's been a little over a week now since I last seen her eat, and she's been a little less active lately too. Do any of you know how to make her eat? Or does she have something wrong with her? Her stripes were gone all week, but the came back yesterday and hasn't left since.
poor fish =( I dont know anything about fish so I can't help.
try to put her in a different tank..try a week.

Make sure the betta's tank is well lighted. I noticed that my betta will only eat when there's good light..probably because it can't see it's food.

I feed my betta pellets that float and some other feeds every other day so he won't get bored. Some times when he has no appetite,I would drop some medication into the tank. He usually gets his appetite the next day smile

I try to feed my betta food that fits right into the mouth. I don't crush until it's like a powder xP my fish never liked it. I feed one pellet at a time(yes,it's tiring ) so that the fish can get the right amount without wasting so much.

The only other tank I have at the moment is a 5 gallon, but it's occupied by my male betta ): I have no where else to put her!

What size tank and what are the params?

You could always try soaking the pellets in garlic juice, garlic is a good way to stimulate the appetite.

It's a 20g, I don't know the exact params. but it's more high than it is long, I'll have to run out tomorrow and buy some garlic and try this.

um..how about a divider?
Honestly, she might still just be getting used to things.
My current and last betta went nearly two weeks before finally eating. Not a week after they started, they would swim to the front of the tank as soon as I walked up to feed them.
