I'd like to retrain Ruby.
She knows sit, stay, down, come, paw both , and back up .

Rocky is a lost cause and won't do anything.
My big problem is my mom doesn't like when I try to teach the dogs.

Why doesn't your mom like it when you try to teach the dogs?

Well Rocky - he was badly abused so he gets stressed very easy.
Ruby came from a miltaristic home so my mom just wants her to have a calmer life.

I took Ruby to the park the other day and we did a few training exerices. She seemed to really like it.

I definitely need the push/motivation to get into training, though - I've been slacking big time.

I vote we start "now" with this - just a no-prizes offered challenge going until the 30th of this month. Maybe just one fairly basic/any level trick, instead of different levels this time? - There have been lots of great suggestions, so it's just a matter of narrowing down the choices; a poll can be made tomorrow night if necessary to finalize which one to do


Based on the suggestions on previous pages:
My personal vote is for Falcon, since it seems like it'll be a good lead-in to other "standing on only your back legs" tricks.
My secondary vote, at this point, is Wave.

OMG YUS! According to my building's housing manager, me and my roommate will be moving into the pet friendly units "in the near future" so I will be able to see if I can coerce Junebug & Rolo into doing some tricks for this smile Or ya know, at least have fun trying!


When I was clicker training with Rolo (months ago now crying ) he really picked up on everything very quickly. He could stand up and beg, roll over, sit, and we were working on spinning. I doubt he remembers now, but I'm sure we can get there again lol He is a smart boy, and I'm sure he will be keen to figure out how to make the treat dispenser work. He trained my mom to hand feed him his raw chicken :0 need to fix that asap when he gets here.

Just thought I'd share, I've been teaching Payton how to skateboard this week! His biggest problem is that he keeps running over the top of it and off the other side instead of pushing it...

Tricks I'd call 'easy':
BANG! you're dead.
Bow!
Shake/paw
Falcon! (perch front paws on forearm)
Sit up pretty
Jump through a hoop

Tricks I'd call harder:
Roll (over)
Balance a treat on the nose
Crawl
Bark!
Find my _____! (Keys/phone/wallet/shoe/whatever)
A-choo! (get a tissue!)
Go to the _____! (room of the house)
Lift your ____ paw! (left/right/back whatever)
Handstand
Walk (on your hind legs)
Run through a rolling hoop
Ride a skateboard

Basically, the second category should have tricks that either have more 'steps' or require the building of a skill, while the easier ones should be just a one-step thing (basically, something the dog already knows how to do, just putting a name to it).

Woah. XD Those are some hard core tricks. lol
