Lol, I've taken tests like these for funsies. Especially now that I'm doing research into getting a dog. I don't use them as a deciding factor, but figured I could get an idea of breeds possibly suited to me to look into.

Puppy finder:
1) Norwich Terrier ( I said I didn't want to do a lot of grooming and the dog didn't need to like kids, so it gave me a dog that loves kids and needs a lot of grooming.)
2) Pembroke Welsh Corgi
3) Affenpinscher
4) Pug
5) Schnauzer (Miniature)

Petcentric
Mixed Breed. That's all I got, haha! So specific!

Eukanuba
Ideal breed is Bull Terrier.
...I've always been creeped out by their faces!

Animal Planet
Affenpinscher
Followed by a ton of other dogs that match me 100%, lol.

i usually get border collie, aussie, poodle, and german shepherd. smart active breeds are important to me and i know i can handle a shepherd and i want one one day but i think a border collie may be a bit too intense for me.

plus none of the breed tests ive ever taken have had carolina dogs in their database and im very happy to say that i think my little dingo is the perfect dog for me. i think i may have to get another one someday

i have taken one test that told me a wolfdog would be a good match for me, no thank you rofl american dingo is as wild as i want to get with large mammals wandering around my house

thats funny, I tried the first one and the results were:
terrier
flat-haired retriever
golden retriever

I have a pit bull, and lost my golden retriever a few months ago, so this is pretty accurate..

Just... terrier? That's so non-specific.

I love flat-coats, but the cancer scares me away. :[
no, it was a more specific type of terrier, I just didn't remember sweatdrop it was furry if that helps

The protection part: well my dogs can't defend for anything.

My future dog I want is a Saint Bernard or Newfie.

The animal planet one suggested a bunch of hunting dogs. XD I ASKED FOR A COUCH POTATO. XD I know for a fact that a black and tan coonhound is nothing of the kind! XD
7th dog suggested was a Dalmation, and one of the others was an Irish Setter, which I think are gorgeous and also make great hiking/biking companions so I think it was fairly accurate for me.

Oooh I've done a few like that. Sometimes they're accurate, sometimes they're not. Sometimes I was luke-warm on the first suggestions and did it again to see what was a hard limit and what was just my ideal.

But this should be fun. I'll take the ones you did too and post biggrin

PuppyFinder: Cocker Spaniel, Pembrooke Welsh Corgi, Beagle, Keeshond. All breeds I've strongly considered.
Petentric: Mixed breed or Gordon Setter appear to be my options there. Luke warm results.
Eukenuba's is already disappointing because I can't say that I have a dog and more than one can, or even if I had a dog and a cat. I guess we're either cat OR dog people huh? Hm. But the result is good Australian Kelpie, I can't get away from these types can I? The other suggestions are all spaniels and pointers. Not bad choices.
Discovery: Brittany, English Cocker Spaniel and ACD. *looks at Isolde* Well, two out of three ain't bad.
GoodHousekeeping: Golden Retriever. Lawl, no. Not at all.
From animal planet i got a Italien grey hound. LOL.

The first two both gave me Westies among the options. I actually own a super-awesome Westie, and she's the 2nd Westie / 3rd terrier we've had. (We had a Lhasa/Scottie mix when I was really young.) I love this breed so much. They're sweet, devoted, and caring, but they're also pretty independent and confident. Brockie is the "playground monitor" at the dog park, typically, and she enjoys being advocate for the puppies that come to the park. Basically, If a big dog is beating up on a little dog or a dog around her size, she'll run to the aid of the smaller dog and tell off the big dog. She also trails puppies to make sure they're not getting into mischief.

The other ones gave me dogs that were too big. No way on earth I can handle a dog over 30 lbs. I can lift Brockie and cart her to another room when she's misbehaving, because she's 17 lbs. I need to be able to pick up a dog, but I don't want a dog that's so teensy I'd step on the poor thing.

I think that's why I never get my breeds of choice on these things, is that I want a dog that's less than 50lbs--less than 40 is even better. Elsie is a small terv (someone at a show called her pocket sized whee ) and only weighs 38lbs. She's perfect--but not super unusual. There's lots of bitches that small, and many males only end up ~50lbs.

The breed selectors seem to think they all weigh 800lbs, though. lol
