My art's not that good but you'd be surprised how often my art gets stolen by others. Not only that, but I have done art for people who never paid me back. This needs to stop and I believe this petition has the solution!

A nagging part of my brain is telling me to think about how this could be abused by faking a preview. But I figure that if someone were to do that, this wouldn't make much difference, except it would be through a trade instead of a PM. So honestly, this feature seems like it would stop the abuse of artists, and make art trades all around easier. Not even my nit-picky brain can find the downside.

I'm tired of art theft and people just getting away with it. My art HAS been stolen before.. Even my a friend irl. I'm sure it's been stolen more times than I know, but I just havn't found out.

This is great. I've thought about this before, and how some kind of setup exactly like the one you outlined would be so much better, and much more efficient.
I feel sketched out, and all paranoid about someone stealing my art. This would definitely calm my nerves. smile
Please, please, gaia staff!! Look at this thread, it is completely relevant to the website! I think everyone would benefit from this, and would greatly reduce art theft, especially for those who are just starting out, and don't know how to watermark or don't know that they should watermark before trading. What these kids dont realize is that when you steal someone's else work and claim it as your own, giving NO credit to the original artist, its plagarisim and is AGAINST THE LAW. After working so hard on a drawing, it just morally wrong to not be paid at all for it. Those scammers need to be stopped and this sounds like a good way to deal with it ^^ bloodwitch *signs* epic idea darling!
though, some artist will demand their gold before hand...but then i start thinking that an artist will scam the buyer (not that i really buy art, but still, the threat exists!) Whoa, this is a awesome idea. :O It'll be so useful! Gaia artists would feel more secure with something like this and it'll encourage them to sell their talent. I'm pretty there have been many artists who have been discouraged from being scammed of an art piece that they've spent many precious hours (and maybe even days) on. I haven't done avi art but if I did I would too have a fear of someone stealing it by showing them it in a PM they could easily just save it from there and lie saying it wasn't what they wanted and use it anyway without you knowing till one day you see their signature or something and see your artwork you did and then you got a big mess on your hands.
