Welcome to Gaia! ::

Do you think it was wrong of Gaia to copy and alter an independent artist's creative property for commercial purposes?

I sign!

I don't think it's right to create items without consent from the original creator, especially if they look exactly like those items in the comic.

Unlike the Adventure Time items (in which Gaia and the creators worked together), many of the other items similar to other artist's works are at least altered, rather than replicated.

You guys do know the OP gave up on this thread a LONG time ago, right?

I'm not saying I don't agree, but why is this only a big deal when they do this with Homestuck items? Gaia has been doing this for YEARS with many items, if you're going to look at one instance, you can't choose not to look at the others.
Heck, I'm a huge ********' fan of Homestuck and loved the idea of creating an avatar littered with Homestucku~, but seeing as Andrew isn't getting any sort of pay or credit, and didn't give permission...
Wait, why is this such a big deal anyway? And only with Homestuck? Like Captain Incapable said, Gaia has been "parodying" items from other anime, games, and such for many, many years. Not that I don't agree that it was wrong, because it is.

I'm signing this petition. Although the current items will most likely be removed eventually, I'm hoping we can get new ones in the future, giving propurr credit, of course! :33

You've got a lot of evidence there to back up your claim, but ultimately you can't win this because there's a single, unbeatable loophole here. These items are not directly obtainable through purchases with actual money. Sure, those mood balloons come out of a Chance Item, which is bought with money, but they themselves are not. You're buying the chance item, the chance to get them, not them directly, and that's where your claim falters. It goes against copyright if they are directly making money off of them, but they're not, which really just makes them fan work. I'm a fan of Homestuck, but this makes me not want to read it as much...

Just gonna leave this here, in case you come back. wink
