Proposal: Using Achievement Points on Prizes/Alchemy/Etc.

I've been waiting for some sort of way to spend Achievement Points on prizes since the Achievements feature first came out.

Would like to use the points to achieve level prizes instead of "spending" them. After all, one does earn them and I think we should be able to keep the points. And the more levels you hit, the better the prizes.

But with the level prizes, I think that they should be soulbound since it is each particular user doing a certain action to earn them. It would be like me wearing a 2003 sash when I came here in 2010 ... something that I've not really earned.

once you hit a certain level they should give you an item. the higher you level the better the item

That actually is a good idea. Its give people a reason to WANT to collect the achievements (ie. Promotes them). And a good use for those silly useless points.

As of now, the achievements thing is a bit of an annoyance: just something else to pop up and slow the computer down. If the points were actually worth something, more people might get excited about it--maybe even try to acquire them.

I'd be up for something like this. The achievement thing is cute, but nothing more. Would be cool to make some sort of reason for doing them other than "look what I did!"

...then again, it seems like that's pretty popular in our culture nowadays.
