idea ='s Idea of how to help the layering issues
Dagger Klinge I wish they would do this so badly. Then I could really do all the tektek dream avi's I have. lovelydeathgoddess I've made so many dream avi's and quested for the items... Only to end up finding out that certain items couldn't be worn together. That is incredibly frustrating. stressed
We need way more freedom when it comes to item layering.

It would make avatars nicer. 3nodding Bewiz I agree. I quested for a avi that needed 6 Dark Halos, and reindeer chest fur and when I finaly got all of the items I needed, I found out the Reindeer chest fur unequips the Dark Halo necklace position so my avi didn't really work out. Meh, I should have checked if each position worked before I decided to buy 6 Dark Halos, but I never thought about doing that. todeadtotype Wearing a Zorro mask and not being able to wear those pointed ears mad me really mad... ^Fluffy_Sheets^ I was so angry when the had the "New Layering Update".
My newly aquired avatar, which I love very much, couldn't wear some of the items I needed!
When I got done fixing my avatar.. It looked like crap!
D;< Xelishiken I hate the fact that on Gaia, you cannot wear the Angelic Sash and the NM Scarf at the same time. I hope everything gets sorted out and that we all are able to create our dream avi's, quest for the items and actually use them the way we want. =.- idiotic, seriously. giraffie This is a very good idea! I have come across the problem only once, but it was still extremely annoying. Woot woot for this great petition! No tears for the fallen I cant say how many times i've spent my hard earned gold on an outfit, thinking it would turn out one way, only to findit ******** up by Gaia and its damn layering problems. It end up rolling into one big cluster ******** of frustration for me! I mean come on, if you make something make sure its showing us what we get! Not only that but if TEK can make it one way, why cant it be the same on Gaia.

I really like how layering is handled in MS word, you take your layers and move them up or down depending on your will.
Maybe something like that?

Put on items in a certain order or something OR give us somethign that will push the items down or up on our avie, meaning further out or in.

The avatar I have now was orginally planned with my Mochi by my feet, my Pixie floating by my head, and my Gwee resting on top of my head, which looked amazing to me. It all worked until I put my Gwee up on my head. My Momo suddenly diasappeared! No matter where I moved my Momo, it looked terrible, so I put it back, and had to rearrange my Gwee, Mochi, and Pixie, and throw in the Water Meat. I still look top-heavy, after all that, and the way I had it would've been perfectly even. How dumb is it that a Gwee, ON MY HEAD, displaced a Momo ON MY LEG?

The layering on here is off and it kinda ticks me off how something on your head or wherever can affect something else near your feet. Or that the holly jolly collar keeps going under the shirts when it was made to go over them. I've done some avis on Tektek, but find out that it won't layer the same here. I really wish this would be fixed. Libidinal Catharsis Why is it that I can't wear the white neck ruffle on top of the vest that was released with all the pirate items?! That's the way it was supposed to be layered! I love that ruffle, but I can never get it in the right place on my avi so I haven't used it in ages.
I agree with the idea of pushing items to the front or back of an avi. It doesn't seem like that would take a whole lot to fix up, but I'm not an expert at that kind of thing. The Mix Breed Mongol I just joined Gaia and my brother is guiding me to everything.
I already have modifed my Dream avi 3 times
just becuase the items I got can't layer properly as it does on Tektek.
Gaia has a responsibility to fix this problem and give Gaians

xXx_killingbeauty_xXx i completely agree with this. when i try something on tektek, it layers perfectly. but when i go out and spend my hard earned money on it, to find out that it doesnt layer corectly.....it pisses me off Xylia-chan I spent 2k, which took me several days to earn, on a Sapphire Forehead Jewel only to find that it can only be worn together with a Headband when the Forehead Jewel is on the bottom, which means I squandered 2k for almost nothing. =/ XAngelFromYourNightmareX It pisses me off when my leggings won't tuck inside my boots.
stressed aijazero I don't like that you can't wear shirts over dresses, and the net shirts HAVE to be over everything.

I made an Avi, and then I couldn't use the longjohns with it at all. Omni Odin I couldn't wear the Bear PJ's with teh Solar Cowl on the face position. It was extremely nice but alas the damn layering. Frank!e I tried to equip a easter bunny shirt with the swan dress *Went with my avatar*, and it ended up not working. D:

.J.a.c.k.e.r.s. My contribution is that you know how some items can be worn more than one way (donation items especially) and you know how on Microsoft Publisher etc. you can 'Send to back' 'Send to front' 'Send Forward' 'Send Backward'?
Well I think we should be able to choose which layer we want the item on.

RaBiD tomato I can't tell you how many times this has happened! I tried to equip Pink LongJohns, and some sort of a green belt, I don't remember. Come to find out, THE BELT HID UNDERNEATH MY LONGJOHNS ( Just like in one of your banners! ). I MEAN, WTF?! NO SENSE AT ALL! I was so upset, I loved that avatar!!
...That belt was expensive, too... gonk Akasuna no Usagi Even on Tektek, some things just won't layer right. Like that time I was trying to create a Tektek image of an original character... I mean, a maroon shirt over a fishnet one sounds simple enough, no? Let's just say I never again want to have to say, "Just pretend the fishnet is under the tee." I'm signing this and Gawd I hope it passes. [A1 Steak Sauce] some of my best avatar attempts have been thwarted by layering issues, it is an honor and a privilege to sign such a document. Just to let you know, if you put certain hats on the wildflower hair, it chops off some of the points..and on tektek, it does not..So..I bought a hammi hat.. thinking "Aww that is so cute!!" and I tekteked an outfit..then I bought it all. I put on the hammi hat..and BAM! My hair was cut off. I was pissed. It looks so dumb... >_> I am behind you all the way! They need BETTER layering.. Fuel this Flame I definately think that this should be fixed.
Personally, I think you should basically be able to put
whatever you want on your avatar, no matter what else
its wearing. Countless times I've gone to make a new avatar,
and it didnt work because some of my items were unequipping
my other itmes. D:< I dont want to have to choose which items
to wear! Riku Drinkhenn I wanted nitemare boots cause they were really cool lookin'. ^^ But a few months ago, suddenly the layering wouldnt work. Now the boots are crap. Have you even seen them on a guys avi? It might as well be a female only item. I'm sick of gaia messing with the avis. (Like the mouths for instance)
If they could just fix the layering, and leave the avis alone: I would be a happy camper./end rant.
I doubt they'll leave the avis alone, so fixing the layering is the next best thing xd I sure hope this works out. idea
[ Boogie] [ Oogie] [ Man] So many freaking things, that stupid longjohn&bathingsuit glitch SCREWS UP SO MANY OUTFITS. I use longjohns and bathing suits a lot, as a layering tool to mix colors, and now I can't! Honestly, i'm used to wining tektek & avatar contests, and when my avatar can no longer look good with the layering I want... it is completely pointless. I pretty much just use tektek anymore, and even that has odd layering. We should have an option where we click the name of en equipped item, and move it up and down in a list so you can change the layering! Hell, i'll make a sample! (Crappy, but a sample! ) Here:

Lilith_Ishtar This definately needs to be more flexible. I always have problems when I am trying to dress up because things wind up on the wrong layer.
It would be nice if items could be dragged around on the avi to put them were you want them, or if you click items and can 'pull them forward and send them back' layerwise, like in photoshop when you move layers around idea

The chickies are also totally screwed up. Look at my scarf. Look reeeal close. THE CHICKY HAS PARTIALLY MELDED INTO IT. D: Animal abuse!
Also, the entire Christmas 2k6 set is effed up. Sure, it's nice to layer Athena shoes under the 2k6 boots, but did you know that you can't wear the scarf and the Gift of the Goddess at the same time? No matter what the position, it always cancels GoG out. The hat does wacky things with layering over other hats.
And I really wish we could wear pants under dresses.
We can wear about every hat in the galaxy at once... why only hats? gonk
But really, I'd be happy just to see the longjohn/bathingsuit glitch fixed. Remmie Re Liandris I quested for nearly 5 months to get my first dream avatar on this account only to find out the webbed top I got did not go underneath the shirt I got to go with it. Yet it fit that way on Tektek. Now I have a webbed top I like but cannot use because I have no way of using it the way I want. Frankly all the tops look retarded on top of the shirts that they've given us. >_< I just want the option to choose whether I want it on top of the shirt or under it D: Alice Catherine Meridian I love this petition. Because there's very little choice among what kind of avatars you can make because of this whole layering business.
One problem I might have with it:
Newbish people might layer everything all up at once and think it looks good when it doesn't. Then we'd have 75% of all Gaian avatars running around looking like s**t because members think it looks good when it doesn't.
But this is serious. I just don't understand why Gaia gives us all these updates we don't need and definately DO NOT WANT (i.e. Navigation Bar) when there are several petitions up (like this one) that ACTUALLY have good ideas for the site and they're IGNORED.

Well, you should add that you can have as many as you want. 'Cause I still have to wear the traditional 'InuYasha s-t prayer beads' but I also want to wear a locket that my gf gave me. I'm pretty upset with Gaia's layering also. I finally came up with a half decent dream avi, and I saved my money to get the Elegant Violet Satin Vest, and the yellow JackSassh... I was so happy when I got them, and I had nearly completed my dream avi - I went to change my avi's apperance, and turns out you can't wear the sash over the vest... O_O; How retarded is that?! Why would you need to wear a sash under anything at all? -.- I'm very upset. Especially b/c I had already spent gold on artwork of the avi.... it was all a waste of gold I guess.

gloomspell It would be a b***h to implement, but there's an easy way to fix the problem. All you have to do is let people choose which layer they want the item they are equipping to go on. Like when ever you select a pose for MCs, you would be able to pick a layer to equip the item to. Except it would have one of them marked as the default layer, or something, for the people who have trouble deciding where to put it. It would solve the layering problem and open up a whole new world of avatar possibilities! And even though it would be hard to re-code the old items, once they did start using the new system, it would actually make things easier on the programmers. Because for all new items afterwards, they wouldn't have to manually go in and code it's item layering in relation to all the other items on Gaia. They would just leave it up to us! idea
