Konekinu One idea I have are the "Harpies," as stated in the myth of "Jason and the Golden Fleece"
A king had offended the gods and because of that he was always surrounded by "woman-headed, bird-bodied, razor-clawed scourges known as Harpies" who would eat his meals before he could and leave simply crumbs for him.
It's my favorite curse, and I dearly hope that could be an idea.

four horsemen (scale, crown, sword, scythe for avatar. suggested by TreeHugger44) got own item
Geno Whirled I sign, for some reason, i was thinking about Lucifer items, because in the bible Luficer was sent to hell after betraying god, so he's a fallen angel, possibly GAIA could add some black angel wings, tattered clothing, horns with a halo hanging off them and a demonic skintone along with some chains(possibly around the wings)
Egyptian
Tutankhamen's death mask (suggested by The Undead Suitor)
experiment two-zero-nine mummy curse (in egypt the whole disrupting a tomb causes the mummy to araise) Maybe your the mummy or you have a mummy behind you.
eqypt arrows (in tombs workers made booby traps such as arrows) Arrows are sticking out of your back that are gold and the feathers are teal and orange.
Egypt mold (in ancient egyptain times the workers laced the tombs with a liquid. If a tomb was opened the liquid reacted to the air and react a deadly mold that kills.) Maybe mold grows on the side of the face.
Ammit (the Devourer of Egyptian mythology) who is the "divine retribution for all wrongs done in life" (suggested by Task Mage Jaya)
Set (Egyptian god of the desert and darkness. Killed, never killed. suggested by zach_wheat)
Hindu
Cloth of Thuggi (red yellow (All accounts by actual thugs say yellow. 30 cm in length, IIRC, with a small silver coin tied into one end to give a weight so it can be swung around the neck with greater speed and precision. info from Deandriea) cloth used in attempts to strangle Shiva. suggested by General Radek)
Kali (skirt (made of arms), necklace (made of heads i think skulls (correction by AkiToHuyu)), and arms. suggested by Pugnacious Banana)
Agni (God of fire - Often depicted with an axe, torch, prayer beads and a flaming spear. He also rides a chariot pulled by fiery horses. suggested by punkarama)
Shiva (arms. suggested by XxHybrid MomentxX)(Shiva is most often depicted with a trident, and sometimes a chakra, also he almost always is adorned with snakes, usually on his arms, head, and around his neck. suggested by punkarama)
Varuna (god of sky and rain) - He provides over the dark half of the sky, so something pertaining to storms would be fitting. (suggested by punkarama)
Aztec
holding a heart
hole in chest (human sacrifice)
Tezcatlipoca or Nahuatl (missing foot, jaguar skin. suggested by Psycho_Berry)
Quetzalcoatl (feathered snake body and/or items based on it. suggested by Baked and Cooked Alive)
Japanese
"Banana Peel of the Spirits" (as in slap stick banana peel. In Shinto, if you didn't pray to the Kami, they would throw back luck upon you by being, if I recall, "mischievous". suggested by kp is dcvi)
Taiyo Jouten I sign. I also have a recommendation for the Japanese section. Inari, the goddess of rice has been known to cause mischief and misfortune and to have fox spirits do her bidding, which is usually some form of trickery aimed towards humans. Most commonly: making mysterious fogs in which peasants get lost, playing tricks of the mind, cursing a person's wealth (as in both monetary and state of being) and to have kitsune transform into people, usually pretty young maidens, and lead them astray in the woods, or humiliate them.
For the avatars, perhaps we can have a spirit fox lurking behind them ranging from somewhat gentle trickster to a malevolent beast, completely concealed by fog, have them appear to have been robbed of something, or have them looking, lost, confused, or bamboozled in general. Inari's beads item
Tea Party Massacres The Japanese (Shinto) Sun Goddess, Amaterasu. There is an old story that tells of how Amaterasu was offended and angry from the mortals not praying to her, so she locks herself up in a cave and takes away all the light from the world, leaving it pitch black. To get Amaterasu to come out, the other Gods and Goddesses put on a strip tease show, and laughed, and partied until she came out of curiosity.
Item Ideas
-----------------
Solar Eclipse (background)
Full Body Censor Blur (avatar/skin)
Mirror + Sakaki (hand item)
To pray to Amaterasu, one normally uses a Holy Mirror with sakaki leaves. The reason for this is because Amaterasu is also the Goddess of mirrors. The sakaki leaves are represented as holy plants, and are often used to communicate with the Gods.
Chinese
experiment two-zero-nine A ruler got barried in a tomb and to make sure his tomb never got plundered he had his worker make thousands of warriors made of clay. These warriors were to stand and guard his tomb and if anyone came the would attack legend had it that one day the leader would return and take over the world with his army. (have a clay warrior behind them or they are clay)
Korean
azora natashi My mom used to tell me about a story where a guy saved a baby chick and he got a gift from the bird in the form of pumpkin seeds. He planted them and they instantly turned into full grown pumpkins over night and he got riches and furniture and stuff like that. And then this other guy wanted it to so he broke a baby chicks leg and nursed it back to health. When he opened the pumpkin, he got chased by bees. My mom says it comes from her home town in china. So it's like a bee/pumpkin curse.
Gaelic (suggested by ChibiChibi42)
Morgan le Fay (suggested by ChibiChibi42)(elaborate staff or circlet. suggested by XxHybrid MomentxX)
Morrigan (bloody armor)(suggested by ChibiChibi42)

The Burning Man (avatar on flames and/or made of wood. suggested by General Radek)
Cúchulainn (inside out skin suggested by Silver Prelude)
KinkaGirl - Encyclopedia Mythica: Bestiary: Black Dog The black dogs are found all over the British Isles, especially on deserted roads. They are roughly the size of a calf and they move in utter silence, except for the clicking of their claws. The chill despondency and despair these dogs cause is the reason why there are no detailed descriptions of their appearance. While a companion is no guarantee for safety -- for one might see the dog and the other might not -- it offers a better protection than walking alone. It is said that the best companion is a descendant of Ean MacEndroe of Loch Ewe. He rescued a fairy once and in return he and his descendants were given perpetual immunity from the power of the black dogs. (See also Barghest). (aka a grim. Kasumi-Angel_Of_Water)
Fomorians where are race of hideous sea giants that once ruled Ireland. The where said to have gray skin, with one eye bigger than the other, twisted deformed legs, and in some cases almost hunchback. (suggested by K0B0LD)
Babylonian/Mesopotamian/Sumarian
Tiamut (avatar is a dark dragon. suggested by General Radek)
Ereshkigal (avatar on hook. suggested by Endrael)

baldness (from When Hippo was Hairy, which is both the title and one of the stories in my book of African myths)
Anansai the Spider: gord with hornets...etc. There are a ton myths relating to this deity. (suggested by DarthMar)
Kaggen limbs floating away from body. (suggested by Khymaira)
Raven Effect DDT The Tokoloshe, which is an African...myth? I dunno.
They were summoned by shamans as a means of punishment, I'm thinking.
Mebbe a Tokoloshe beside your avvie, or climbing on your avvie?
African American
Brer Rabbit...so have your avi be stuck to a tar baby, or have the tar baby close by to the avi...As seen in the story: Brer Rabbit and the Tar Baby (suggested by DarthMar)
Native American
Coyote/Raven general tricksters, don't know what sort of item, but there's a few myths dealing with punishments that they got for fiddling with too high a power (suggested by DarthMar)
Kokopelli 'Rain' flute, clouds, bag of seeds, hunchback... (suggested by DarthMar)
Ria Mars I also have a recommendation to add.
How about Sedna, the Inuit Goddess of the sea? I the tale's she has her fingers cut off and shaman have to untangle her mess of hair in order to appease her.
So maybe avi's with their bloody stubs on their hands and a giant mess of half-braided hair? She a sea goddess so you could have maybe being eaten by a shark.
Australian Aborigine
Spear in the Butt (From the story of how the Kangaroo got his Tail and how the Wombat got his Flat Head)
Red chest (burned) (from the story of How Fire was Stolen from the Red-Crested Cockatoo)
Miscellaneous (not sure where these go)
Lycanthropy (possibly Latvian, suggested by [- DB -])
KinkaGirl - Encyclopedia Mythica: Bestiary: Kludde In Belgian folklore, a water spirit which roams the Flemish country side. This creature, called Kludde, hides in the twilight of dawn and sunset and attacks innocent travelers. Warned travelers listen for the only sound which betrays that Kludde is in the vicinity: the rattling of the chains with which the spirit is covered.
Kludde usually appears in the shape of a monstrous black dog that walks on his hind legs. The faster one walks, the faster this monster follows, often swinging through the trees like a giant snake. No one can ever hope to outrun or escape this creature. The dog is not the only shape in which it can be seen. It can also assume the shape of a huge, hairy, black cat or a horrible black bird.
Voodoo (zombies reaching for/stalking avatar. suggested by Erebus Haze)(dolls)
Bottom's curse: your avi gains an a**' head. (suggested by DarthMar)
Robin Goodfellow: Green tint to skin, small vial of the juice of that one flower. (suggested by DarthMar)
Erebus Haze
surprised An Islamic myth!
Have the Islamic creation myth as an MC. Shaitan, an Iblis (spirit of fire, or jinn), were the ones that tempted Adam and Eve to eat the fruit out of spite for God.
EDIT:
Wikipedia, search Jahannam Zaqqum is a thorned tree that grows in Jahannam. It has bitter thorned fruit which the damned are compelled to eat so as to intensify their torment. Its fruits are shaped like devils' heads.
Unseelie court (black faerie wings. suggested by XxHybrid MomentxX)
Chupacabra (suggested by experiment two-zero-nine)
no Kaye I don't know if anyone has put this up, but there is a Water Horse that originates from Scottish Mythology called a 'Kelpie'. It can take on three different forms.
That of a human(depending on who you ask, the human is either AMAZINGLY beautiful, or a shaggy-hairy beast), A Horse(in this form it will fool people into getting up onto it's back, only to lunge into the nearest body of water and drown them and feast upon their flesh. - Also in this form, though they're hidden, their teeth are that of a lion's, or tigers. They are usually completely white, or completely black), or a Half-Horse, Half Fish Creature. (This creature is fish from the waist down, and horse from there, up.)
I've had many ideas to make this an item, even an evolving one but never really voiced them until now. Many forms it could take is...
Kelpie - Dormant (A Pond, maybe with horse ears sticking up out of the water to look like a plant or something.)
Kelpie - Coming (The Pond, but maybe a tail-fin or something sticking up out of it this time, or maybe even the whole half-horse above the water, peeking out to say 'Hi')
Kelpie - Waiting (Horse this time, maybe standing next to your character, or over the water looking mostly innocent, and rather inviting to ride)
Kelpie - The Jump (Your Avie on the horse, as it jumps into the lake, maybe with your Avie looking like.. "HOMG's NOOOES. D:"
Kelpie - Skin (Makes your Avie's REALLY Hairy, like a troll, or REALLY Beautiful, both with little leaves or water or something covering themselves. Sort of like Adam and Eve.)
Blargh, but anyways. Random stupid idea's. >> I doubt Gaia will take them seriously.
Kelp o' th' loch item
Goblins, from celtic mythology. born in warrens, raising from caves deep underground, they come to the surface as an torrent covering the face of the land like a plague! (suggested by Hell_Tutor)
zanpaki I got one!: La Segua is a legend from many CAm countries (I know the Costa Rican version best), where a drunken man (usually at a bar) will see a beautiful woman and "take her home." On the way to [wherever they are actually going], a man would look over his shoulder on the horse and the woman would have the head (sometimes upper torso) of a horse with burning eyes. I've heard two versions of what happens next; one is that he is scared to death (literally), and the other is that la segua would eat his skin from his bones. - A little lesson to the men to stay loyal to their wives.
Kahahana What about a rock avatar? Or one covered in lava? You see, in Hawaiian mythology, Pele would attack people, and once, she turned someone into a lava rock which can still be seen today.
Malithort I'm not sure if anybody's mentioned this one before, but in Buddhist mythology, the cat is said to be placed under a curse, because he did not weep at Buddha's funeral. I think a cat-curse would be pretty sweet, maybe a skin/form/pet.
