Welcome to Gaia! ::

Pink Gumdrops
I have a question and I don't know if it has been posted already or not, so I'm going to ask anyway. sweatdrop

I have, in my shop, bump signs with Hello Kitty on them. I hand drew the pixelized version of her completely on my own, but is that against the rules? I don't have permission from Sanrio to use her official pictures in my graphics, BUT I drew the image myself from scratch... I haven't sold any as of yet, and I might take them down until I know the answer, but I was just wondering... because I didn't want to break any of the rules. ._.

Isn't that fan art?
omgeesh im so boored idk

Lol. Is it? I wasn't sure, which is why I asked...

Wait a second... Will I Be reported for using a desktop program?

No, not for using graphics-programs and such.
This thread brings up the fact that you arent
allowed to use other peoples work (like images, art, photos..) without permission.

Would I be able to make manips with Gaia characters? Like have a CoCo in a field and stuff, and if so would I be able to sell them?

Same question but with animals as well, would that be allowed?

All Gaias graphics is allowed to be used.
From first post in this thread:

Quote:
Use images off Gaia, e.g. official Kiki images, banner images, NPC images etc. This includes the usage of any Gaia avatar makers as they utilise Gaia's graphics.

Raven Blackstar
Is it allowed to use fractal pictures/art in your banner or imagemap as a layer? Just wondering, as it is pretty hard to say you copied a fractal picture from an existing one roaming the net. They all look like each other somehow or sometime sweatdrop
Same goes for pictures about animals, whereof the picture is mostly be found on ten or more different sites.

To be on the safe side - ALWAYS make sure you have the right to use an image beforehand.
If you arent sure - then dont use it. If you cant reach the person behind an image or such
to be able to ask for permission - dont use it either. Thats just my advice.

Sanjia213
I know the thread states you cannot use a blinkie maker or other maker, but would an online animation site similar to gimp work??? It is a website but is only used to animate...

Im not 100% sure how to interpret this but I would have to say no.
Perhaps totorochic would know better.

Could someone post a free public anime site i can't seem to find one unless there isn't... Welll thanks if you could ,

It sure isnt easy to find free images like that on the net - and for a reason too.
People dont want others to use their work without knowing about it...

If you drew everything by yourself (and did not trace/copy it) you are allowed to use it.

Thank you very much for answering my question!
What if you got the Images from a Stock pack that a user from a other forum gave you and told you that they were ok to use?

I think I have a fair guess of what my answer will be, but I just want to be sure. If I took a screenshot of Sims 2 and used it in my profile (with permission from the CC creators), would I still need to go ask for permission to use Sims 2 in my profile?

If I do, where would I ask? Maxis, EA Games, or the Official Site? Aish.
I got a few questions a please pm me the answers cuz i don't like looking in the forums

1. If i open a siggy shop that makes people search for their own pictures and have permission to use it, and he/she lies that they have permission for it, am i gonna get in trouble for it?

2. Can i use pictures for my siggies only without permission and change everything about it in an onlin image editor sites? like the siggy i have below in my siggy question. (i am new to these copyright stuff things and such bcuz i've been making sigs in other websites and none of them have these rules 0_o.)(the siggy i have below i made for the example for the question, and the only way u can find this sig i made is if u look in imageshack bcuz that is where the image editor uploads it to)

3. Can i use image and edit it on paint a whole lot then edit it on an image editor so it hardly looks like anything from the original?

i think thats all my questions, my brain went away for some time lol

oh and another one

if i make feebies, can i just say they can give gifts if they want to if they love the sigs i made?
Well, I read the entire first post and I'm still unclear on one thing.
As my signature says, I make Meez posters. Meez is another avvie site; I am a member. People there make posters with Meez avvies all the time, though for free because there is no Coinz transfer system (yet). Can I use Meez avvies in posters that I sell for Gaia Gold? If so, do I have to credit?

If they own the stock images, then yes it's ok to use them. I would advise you link back to where you got them though.

Since you made the profile for yourself and you're not charging gold to sell to other people, permission is not required.

As stated in the Meez Terms of Service:
"You may use the Meez service solely for your personal, non-commercial use."
This means you cannot use them to sell for Gaia gold.
Are we allowed to use clip art in a banner we make? Or do we need to contact Microsoft?

Okay I haven't read every page of posts, so I'm sorry if this has been asked already.

If I'm using a generator from another site, and I clearly state that that's what I do, can I still charge?
If not, what about asking for donations in exchange for the code?
So, in general, no selling banners with the images of others.

Say, I price a banner at 250 gold standard. No art/images included as I don't have authorisation. But a customer would like me to add an image from a certain site as background (e.g anime of some kind) - weather or not he/she has authorisation. Is it okay to use it, without charging anything more? Technically I wouldn't make any profit from the (c) image, as my price is the same without it. It would be a free addition to the banner, as to say.
I would include a note in the pricing-section that I don't include (c) images/art by default as I don't own the rights.

Would that be okay?
So if someone were to edit sprites from a game to look like Gaian avatars, they would not be permitted to sell these in a forum shop without the publishers' permission? Would they be allowed to make these images if they had no intention of selling them for gold? And lastly, would the person be allowed to distribute the edited sprites in a thread if they were not selling them?

Thanks!

Use of generators are not allowed in Mini Shop items unless it's for free and in the Art Freebies subforum ^^;

You cannot add the images, they would have to add it themselves. The effect would be that you were charging the same for a plain or character banner, which is not allowed.
