heart ... Autumn leaves fall and are swept out of sight ...

That's why you need the G&S Libretto love. Or you can leaf through mine - you know, the bent-covered one standing next to my Complete Works of Shakespeare?

Or the Internet, that works too.

((Or the subtitles option))

I accepted someone who said "Lol XD" because, honestly, that was the best response out of all the crap I got. Now I have to think of another quote! I've used Richard, I've used Alan Rickman, I've used The Pirates Movie, and now I'm stuck.

I answered you on the phone but for the sake of any onlookers, that's great news!

I'll read your G&S libretto eventually. That'd keep me entertained for awhile. Which reminds me, I need to keep reading my Complete Works of Shakespeare. In all honesty, I'm halfway through the first play. That's all the distance I've gotten. *sigh* It is beautiful, though. Some of his phrasing is just musical... and the words are just divine. In places. User Image

Subtitles are always helpful. To be honest, I had to listen to Fledermaus with subtitles the first time so I could work out what they were going on about. I ... have trouble understanding sopranos when they're singing. Is this when I hide my head in shame?

More Richard quotes. Or Homer, maybe. "It's just a little airbourne, it's still good, it's still good!" If only you'd seen Blackadder... it has some fantastic quotes. One day, you and I shall have to sit down and watch them all. The first season isn't the best, but if you persevere, the rest are all fantastic.

And the vet thinks it may be the tablets. Not a stroke. I need to watch him till Thursday, then I have to ring her, and give a progress report. I know I said that...but, like you said, for the sake of any onlookers. xd

And the good thing about the Libretto is that it's got explanations of some words and phrases and interesting little trivia-like bits. Sort of. Ish.

I got through that first one but then I think I skipped over to Twelfth Night instead of going onto the next one. Or maybe I started the next one - or two - and then skipped, can't remember. There's something about Twelfth Night, though, that just stays in my mind.

And no, don't worry. I have trouble working it out sometimes too. Some of the things in Burnt Toast were really hard to pick out and despite the fact that I've discovered the subtitles button on the remote for regular shows, that particular show didn't provide any. Which is a bit sad because Burnt Toast was fantastic. "Thigh master, call mum, change the kitty liiiiiiiiiiiitter." XD

Homer! Of course! I know just the one.

I know, it's been ages since I've seen Blackadder. Years. And I think I remember the first season being on telly and just cringing through a lot of it.

Well there, see? Good news! ((I wonder if the onlookers are actually looking or just grabbing gold)).

Ah-ha! Definitions. There is light at the end of the tunnel.... although, I have a lovely dictionary, somewhat out-dated. It was Mum's when she was in high school which was..... over 40 years ago? Something like that. Some words the meanings have changed, some words are not there. Mostly it's good though.

I hate things without subtitles! Dialogues of the Carmalites (however that's spelt...), doesn't have subtitles. The whole thing was almost incomprehensible. And horribly boring. I felt very uncultured while I was watching it.

Yeah, first season is not so great. My favourite is the third season, second and fourth are tied, then first comes in a far last. Ironically.

Yeah, it helps a lot to have paragraphs of info on every left page with all the libretto on the right pages. And even though I'll probably never get the chance to sing it I've memorised Prithee, pretty maiden off by heart. redface

You've got Dialogues! I've been thinking of getting that, mainly just to see the few seconds that you know who walks on for. But if it's that dull I might not. I rarely watch The Gondaliers because I found it a bit of a yawn ((some parts were actually all right and clever but the rest ... I was tempted to just fast forward through)).

All I remember is the movie - how he punches Shakespeare, who becomes the "inventor" of the ballpoint pen. And the Queen bit where he does get mistaken as the Blackadder of that time. And the dinosaur.

Aw, I adore Prithee, pretty maiden. It has beautiful harmonies. That moving part Anthony does against What'shernames part at the end. *sigh*

It was really only a few seconds he was on... but it was worth it. xd

Is it terrible that I still haven't watched Gondaliers? The problem is that practically every evening since coming back from SA with my G&S boxset, I've been glued to the internet. My telly is right there, and I should be able to watch stuff at the same time as being on the net, but I never think of it.

And, to be completely honest, the huge Blackadder fan that I am, I still haven't seen the movie. redface

Christine Douglas. She kinda creeps me out. Even as Musetta in La Boheme she was creepy. Or it could be just me. But I find her creepy.

It always is, isn't it? XD

No, it's all right. It took me a while to open up the box set to get to Gondaliers. A young Lemke (Lamke?) made for interesting viewing though. I've watched Fledermaus so much that it's so weird seeing him without the Falke mustache XD

... That's just odd. But it reminds me I need to do up a list SOON so we can work out what to watch in November.

Oh yes, that's her. She looks a bit vacant at times in Patience. And is it just me, or Archibald gently mocking Patience at times? It's kind of funny, yet oddly inappropriate.

Yes, a list would be good. If you want my feedback on what to watch, I need to know what you have. xd And I should like to remind you that I do have the first seven seasons of Stargate.

I thought he did too, but he's just brilliant. He's a b*****d but you get hooked on him.

Mind, Gabrielle Eisenstein was even more of a p***k, but there's still the same love/hate thing with the viewer.

Somehow I don't think we're going to end up watching anything. We'll end up talking more about what we COULD watch that nothing will get done.

At least I wasn't the only one to notice it. He is so ... arrogant, but he's so naivé about it, that it just makes him more lovable. It's so well done.

Eisenstein was brilliant. So socially inept. xd

We were supposed to watch lots of stuff when i came to visit you last... but I think we only ended up watching three things. There were just so many other things to get distracted by.

"Yes, Patience. I am very beautiful."

And very knowledgeable. "Le vine! - no ... Le vine!" I could do the rest but I suspect you've heard it enough.

We were! We saw Clue when you came the first time, and then the second time was The Pirates Movie, Lil' Shop of Horrors, and ... Dark Crystal XD We need a better film line-up. I was thinking about Shock Treatment but that's not much better, really. It's interesting in a way and a couple of catchy tunes but ... no.
