I was surprised too when I first learned that you don't need
more credentials to do that kind of work, but it's apparently
super common - in fact, one of the girls I work with did that
herself, though it doesn't sound like she found it quite as
rewarding as you do XD Certainly wouldn't be something
I could do, but I can see where it would be gratifying if you're
cut out for that kind of work. Do you want to eventually get
some kind of nursing license?

I was very surprised when I first started working there. I thought maybe they gave you some kind of license to do it. I was and I kinda changed my mind. I've been thinking about going to school to be a vet assistant or pet groomer. I can't take how corrupt the health care system is. Makes me really sad that I can't do anything to help my residents when they're being treated badly. I can't stand to see it, so I've been thinking of doing something else. It breaks my heart. I love all of my residents a lot and I can't stand to see them get mistreated the way they do. sad Other than that, I really love the job. I love getting to help my old people do things. They are spoiled rotten thanks to me haha.

Ah, i can understand that. I basically do paralegal work,
but I'm no kind of certified XD The law firm I work for
handles disability cases though, so I know what you
mean about being disheartened sometimes by the
system : (

I really does suck. They tell you all the time "report any abuse you see" and "the residents have rights". But, they're a bunch of liars. Those poor residents don't seem to have any rights it seems. You're the one that gets in trouble for reporting any abuse, not the person that's doing the abusing. Not to mention, if you report someone the managers like, the managers themselves start gunning for you and try to find ways to fire you. I can't stand it. It makes me sick to my stomach.

How's the to do list going? ^-^

-Collapses onto floor.- Grandma fell
again. This time she is in the ER and
they are putting her into skilled short
term nursing. We think we have figured
out why she is falling. They will be giving (sp.?)
levels are up as is her potassium. This
could be a sign of a cardiac event. However
they have no other signs of a cardiac event.
However she is not hurt and while we did have
to call the paramedics since we could not
get her up ourselves this time she is fine.
Unfortunately the V.A. is also screwing
with my dad's meds. (He hasn't had his
PTSD meds in over a week.) So he is
waking up with nightmares and his stress
level is through the roof. So I am having
to be the level headed person right now.
Which as you all know is totally not easy
for me. My Uncle Terry who lives in Houston
is basically saying we are not doing enough
for her. When we have been over to her house
every day for four or five hours a day. She
will be going into a skilled nursing facility for
a few weeks to a month or so. She won't
accept living there permanently but she
agreed to a few months. There are some
other things going on that we believe has
caused her falling, one being that she is
on four times the maximum does of adivan
at night so it is believed when she starts
to come off of it in the morning she falls
(after about 10 AM she is alright.) So
just lots of s**t going down. However I
think work is going to be very helpful
in sort of distracting me from all of this.
Anyway it's good to be home. How is
everyone else?

I still do Gaia orders. But these days, with inflation, I can't keep
up with pricing, so I mostly take items, or items and big lumps of gold. Thread
layouts are probably the hardest thing to do, closely tied with profiles, so it
would have to be an enticing order, but yes, certainly, I still take Gaia comms.
