I've done set construction for the past three shows I've participated in (The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940, The Dead Guy, and Little Shop of Horrors). Set construction is decent, but I feel bad 'cause I have no idea what I'm doing. I had my friend, who is a full-time techie, teach me how to use a drill.

I've only been a real techie for a show though when we did The Dead Guy. I didn't audition for the show because when I realized that plays at this school required like 4 hour rehearsal daily dedications, I decided to take a break after the first one (The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940). But I did sign up to help during Tech Week and I ended up being a projectionist for the show. To those who don't know about Dead Guy, the script asks that confessionals and commercials be played in or after some scenes to give the show an actual television broadcast feel. So that was my only real experience as a techie. XD

I love 1940! A high school near me did that couple years ago, the set was amazing- my hs never would have done it simply for the sheer scope of construction, I wish more groups did that particular show.
