Welcome to Gaia! ::

The renaissance fair is coming near, and I'd like to perform a little amateur fight with a few friends for anyone passing by. Our weapons aren't real, but they're still heavy, and would hurt quite a bit if we whacked each other. I want a nice blend of realism and theatrical fighting, as we all know real fighting can be pretty boring.

So any pros here that can lend some tips?

Whoa! Before going any farther, you might want to check your fair's rules on weapons (real or not) and using them.

I know some stage sword fighting, and I'd teach you what I've been taught is called the "box drill". No one actually tries to hit anyone else and you stand far enough apart that your sword CANNOT TOUCH the other person... But I have no idea how to teach the box drill by typing in a forum...

...sooooo Good Luck with your Fair! 4laugh

Safety first.

I've done some stage combat training, and I have seen people get injured. Make sure you choreograph your fighting sequence for maximum realism.

Sorry if these tips seem very basic, but they're necessary!
