So I'm To Get Into The Acting Ring

So, I've never done professional theater before. My only experience with acting has been starring in plays at my college (I most recently performed "My Angry v****a" from The v****a Monolouges). I wanted to get out of my school's acting circle a bit and into some stuff in my town, you know, bigger productions and such. How did you actors break into the whole acting ring? Did you just start auditioning for stuff or did you try to work backstage a lot before you tried to do anything onstage? I'm curious as to what I can expect to be able to do right out of the gate, and where should I start?

for me it was just searching for auditions by looking at a non profit theatre website
for the state I lived in, and found lots of gigs that way, and met lots of awesome people,
agents, aswell as people doing film, and who have alot of experience in plays,
I learned from each thing and each rehersal and took in everything and never took anything for granted. Ya see I never took a real theatre class in school, I'm home schooled now cause
I couldn't get any work done, so the only way I could learn was through auditions
for community theatres, paying gigs, anything like that. and I'm always learning.
ask any actor, and they will say they are always learning, always growing.
Do you know what facinates me most about acting?
the fact that there is no retirement age. and do you know why that is?
because you can never learn, all there is to learn, about acting.

There's a local children's community for ages 8-18
'round these parts. I just started auditioning there,
and eventually moved on up to their Mainstage.

Check out your local community troupe.
It's a great way to get started and get your name out there. ;D
