Welcome to Gaia! ::

My favorite version would probably be the 10th Anniversary Dream Cast version.

Ok, this is kind of off topic, but there's a Les Mis role play, and there's only two members (including me!). We would like it if more Les Mis fans would join! ok i don't have the link, but if you search Les Miserables, click on the rp one with a poll. Thanks!

                                   CSR hands down for me; the arrangements had a bit more body compared to the OBCR, although maybe it had something to do with the fact that they recorded CSR in studios all across the globe *shrug* Though I'm a bit iffy on Gary Morris I can't STAND Colm Wilkinson - in anything. His voice just irks me. Barry and Gay were wonderful as Thenardier and Mme. Thenardier, I thought. Marissa Dunlop's Castle on a Cloud was lovely, Koho did a good job, Ross McCall was a good Gavroche, very convincing ...

                                  Tracy Shane and Michael Ball ... I'm sorry, there's just something about them in this that was very off-putting. Ball is hard for me to listen to anyway and Tracy had ... well, there was something about her pronunciation that didn't sit well with me.

                                  I can't end without giving a mention to the Aussies. Debra Byrne irks some people, that I know, but not me. I'd heard her version of I Dreamed a Dream long before I heard Elaine Paige and I adore the harsh, beaten-down grainy texture of her voice, it just seems so fitting for Fantine.

                                  Philip Quast has diction TO. DIE. FOR. Every word is just ... oh, it's absolutely fantastic, every breath and vowel and consenant(sp) makes me melt. No one sings Stars like him, no one! Remarkably, not even Warlow's rendition on his own albums shakes things up as much as Quast's.

                                  Finally I must mention my good friend, Mr. Warlow. Now Ant may not get much "air" time on the album but as always, he commands the mike. Admittedly, I felt that people may have over-exaggerated the force of his: "Let others RIIIIIIIIIIISE to take our place unTIIIIIIIIIIIL the earth IS FREEEEEEEEEEEEE!", but it was still okay. Still my favourite Enjourlas.

                                  "Or "lingerie", as he was fondly called backstage."

10th Anniversary Concert for sure. I like the complete symphonic recording too and I might even prefer the Jean ValJean/Enjorlas over TAC but that Fantine...I don't even know who she is but I can't stand listening to her parts. sweatdrop No one can top Ruthie henshall sry sad but true. And something about it being live just makes the whole CD even more amazing, that's really when Broadway is best, live. Phillip Quast always gives me chills especially in Fantine's Arrest. heart Not to mention Lea Salonga and Michael Ball...

I'd love a complete recording with the dream cast, it'll never happen I know. ._.
