Like everyone else said, work your way up. Practice breathing properly (stick out your stomach when you breath) so you don't kill your voice.
I recommend the singing lessons, too.

Some people aren't cut out for achieving a higher voice. I know I wasn't.

I suggest that you pat your chest with your fist. However, I dont know if this is just for tenors because it works really well for people with lower voices.
Each voice type is somewhat different in how they are able to achieve higher notes just as each person's voice is different. Breathing is essential for any type of singing be it high, low, sustained, whatever it may be. That's the first lessons that anyone will get when they start training. It's just good for a refresher. Though it may sound like some of this advice is more "classical" singing rather than popular, the techniques are the same. I would suggest building the natural voice, i.e., don't strain or push for a note, and find someone who teaches belting lessons. Belting is it's own technique and require specific training just like screaming does for "screamo". Best of luck to you!

P.S. most "belters" are actually low sopranos and altos. Keep at it smile

You can't just all of a sudden hit higher notes. You gotta work up to 'em. Takes time and effort. I'd honestly recommend voice lessons.

You have to work towards those high notes, but the key thing to do when you sing those high notes is to LIFT that soft palate. The soft palate is located near the back of your mouth. If you yawn, you can feel it raising. Raising your soft palate is essential to making your high notes sound GOOD, otherwise they sound flat and out of tune.
scream that is how
Someone told me that if you sing while urinating, you'll be able to hit higher notes more easily.
It at least gives you one more thing to do while you visit the toilet biggrin

scream that is how

That is possibly the worst advice you could ever give to a singer.

I recommend voice lessons, but if you have don't have enough time or the money, since it's really expensive, i would recommend breathing exercises, which will help immensely.
