Welcome to Gaia! ::

ok, so im in this band, and im having a hard time singing some high notes. Got any advice??? sweatdrop
Use your head voice.

If it's difficult, though, it may just mean that you're not a soprano. Don't hurt yourself trying to sing outside of your range.

You can't just all of a sudden hit higher notes. You gotta work up to 'em. Takes time and effort. I'd honestly recommend voice lessons.
I second the voice lessons, mainly because singing incorrectly can be extremely dangerous. I know people who were left unable to talk for months at a time because they had to get corrective surgery for the damage they had done to their vocal cords by singing incorrectly. Get lessons, be disciplined about your practice regime.

sing your heart out.
who cares if you look or sound silly.
you'll eventually adapt to it.
and thus learn how to hit higher notes.

The last post is not good advice. "You'll eventually adapt to it" will not happen unless you get lessons or know what you are doing. You may be able to hit the notes eventually...I know an alto that was finally able to get up to some high notes, but she still isn't as strong in them since it isn't really in her range.

I'm not a expert, but from what I learned a lot of it is from the breathing, and how you pronounce your words to make it easier. If you don't have enough gas, you won't make it up the hill xD

I second most of the last post. You definitely need to have enough air to support yourself on the high notes. However a friend of mine recommends that if a note is off the staff (aka using ledger lines or G5 and higher), you don't try to pronounce it, just sing it. And her teacher was a really good operatic teacher.

I also second the voice lessons. =)
Sit up tall, use your head voice and take deep breaths. but dont strain yourself. you may just not b a soprano.
you have to slowly train your voice to reach higher notes :/

Professional singers use their diaphragm. It is located just above the stomach, below the ribs, and between the lungs. This is what you hit when you use the Heimlich maneuver when someone is choking. Exercising this can help you sing higher, lower, longer, louder, and enable you to take in more breath quicker.
First, you have to retrain your breathing. Most people are actually breathing wrong, and breathing correctly can help you lose fat and gain muscles quicker. After you exhale, inhale to the fullest capacity your lungs can hold for a steady 4 beats. Then hold it for 4 beats, keeping the same pace. Exhale for 4 beats, and hold for 4 beats. And repeat. You can tell that you are not using all of your lung's capacity if you are filled up before the 4 inhaling beats are done. Learning how to breathe correctly may be hard, but with practice has some very noticeable and satisfying results.
If you do this one exercise at least 20 times a day, you'll exercise muscles we rarely use anymore. It will be very hard at first! But you may even gain abs! Lay down flat and, using the correct breathing technique stated above, slowly lift your feet 6 inches above the ground while you inhale, hold, and slowly move your feet back to the floor while you exhale, and repeat.
Good luck!
Edit: Voice lessons have helped me tremendously. However expensive, it is good to put out a little money if you hope to have singing as your career. Agents/producers look for someone, not only with talent, but with experience and training. They don't want someone who may hurt their voice soon after getting popular, thus not making any money. Don't learn the hard way!
While you can't hit higher notes over night, I do know a little trick to make your notes a little smoother and higher. Put your chin to your chest and sing down. It makes you throat a little bit straighter, so your notes are a little bit better. (I learned this from a music teacher.)

But whatever song you're trying to sing, go with your natural voice, because I'm sure it's lovely.

If you give it time, and work on it a little or something after a while you'll be able to do them..... this is kinda awkward, but it might also just be your vocal cords changing from growing older..... yes girls go through it too! just not as bad as boys....... I went through a time where I just couldn't get any high notes... now I can i think....
