I have a quick q. are u embaressed by much? Do you live w/ ur parents?
If not, I might have a few suggestions.
Oh! One more thing! What play group is this with? A cummunity players or like a serious, very serious production?

I'm not embarrassed by a lot, but I'm uncomfortable doing this kind of thing around people I don't know really well. But yes, I do live with my parents. It's a community theater called the Medfield Gazebo Players (Massachusetts), so we're not severely serious, but it's the most professional group I've been with. Previously, I've been in school theater in high school and my first year of college.

well hookers often are insecure i would imagine and sometimes they do it for their families. i thnk you should make a backstory for your character on why she does it and other reasons

Cigarettes are always a great prop and add so much to a character. I highly recommend it.

Since you mentioned that you need to be a "drunken" prostitute, try to imagine all of the people you've seen drunk. Think about how they talked and how they moved (especially how they move, because you're movements will affect how you talk. Believe me).

For when you play with the audience, are you going to be able to actually be with the audience, or will you be on stage the whole time? If you have the opportunity of going into the audience, I'd suggest sitting on some guy's lap for a bit, and while you're sitting on his lap, tease some of the other people around you. If the man has a wife or girlfriend, tease her, too. The more offensive the more convincing you'll be, but not too offensive though, you still want people to enjoy themselves razz

Be very touchy. Whenever you're talking with one of the guy characters, walk around them, wrap your arms around them, lean your elbow on their shoulder, put your arms around them, just be very touchy feely. And if you're just going to be in the background with some other characters, try flirting with one of the guys if there are any or try scaring/offending the girls.

I'd also suggest that you get a pair of shoes and a mini skirt as soon as possible to you can play with you're body movements and how you'll walk.
