Saw a commercial for the "Fushigi Ball" on TV one night and flipped out. I wanted to be able to do that. Looks really cool. :3

Anyone here do it? And personal tips?
Which tricks can you do? Or which ones are your favourite?

I'm just using a softball, since I don't have anything else at the moment. Can't buy things off the net and there isn't much here for stores.

People still reply to this?
I forgot I had it. o_0
Ah, I've seen those things but don't want one; it just doesn't feel as original. I can only do the rolling on one hand or the other but haven't gotten the flow down to transfer between the two... I actually picked up a lacrosse ball from a sports store. It's a really nice size and has just the right amount of weight.

my favorite is the flipping one were he has the ball on one side of his hand and flips it to the other side

That one is actually pretty easy. smile
It's fun as hell, too. You know, until you eff up and it flies across the room and hits your guitar. ._.
i might get a fushigi one day but right now I'm happy with my baoding balls. The little chime they make sounds quite soothing and they're aiding me in my quest to become ambidextrous.

EDIT: I just got Fushigi today at some church yard sale. haven't gotten to flipping it between sides of my hand yet but i got the simpler stuff down.

Awesome.
I've heard Fushigi balls are really bad and break easily. =
I think they look cool, though. smile
I mean, if I came across one I would totally buy it. Better than a ball with multiple tell marks. ._.

well i've dropped it a few times and it hasn't broken so far. im staring to develop ninja catching skills though ninja i can now sort of do the windshield wiper. im catching on.
I have quite a few friends who contact juggle, and the few of them who have tried fushigis say they suck and you're better off with a regular contact juggling ball.

I'd really like to learn, but I don't think I would have the time to practice enough to get very good.

Yeah, I've heard they suck a lot, and dropping them once results in absolutely no fun.

I practice during my classes.x D

Awesome! i'm glad you've started to learn contact juggling! i've been practicing for years and i absolutely love it!!
Use a heavy ball that helps a lot. And good luck!
Honestly, the best way to start out, is to get a fushigi ball, and you'll drop it a million times, but that's okay. It's a fushigi. After that you get what's called an acrylic ball. ONLY WHEN YOU ARE COMFORTABLE DO YOU GET THE ACRYLIC BALL. And then you do your show with that one. As it'll have no tell marks. That's what I did. I'm still more than mediocre, but I think it's a pretty good path to take. Plus the fushigi comes with a pretty nifty instructional dvd.
remember to play if your just trying to climb a "trick ladder" your personal style will be repressed and you will get much less enjoyment from discovering new moves and dancing with the beautiful and infinitely complex shape we call a sphere.

I know I have a technique, but I can't put it into words at the moment... First time I tried I used bowling pins... let's just say it was an epic fail and I had a bruised head in the end...

Ahhhh they're hard. I got the hang of it for a while. (i totally abandoned juggling class to play with it hehee) A softball is... VERY different. I would not suggest messing with that. The real thing is even different from a juggling ball. :l
