i was wondering, if somebody was going to go out for a movie would they have to have an agent to audition or could they just be by themselves and built their career?

does anybody know?

I know you do, I know you do haha ^_^

LOL KAY ;DD

If it's an open call, anyone can audition.
If it's closed, you will need an agent.

I take unwanted things.
Bright colors are a plus.

I believe in Harvey Dent.
Now let's put a smile on that face.
Why so serious??
and also, all agents really do , is find you auditions,
Having a agent doesn't garuntee you a part. 3nodding
but don't focus on having a agent, I mean if you just love acting, film or stage.
Just do what ya love. Don't do acting for fame or money, cause in the end you won't get either xD

a good place to find good open calls if you're really serious about persuing acting is Backstage Magazine! You can even google it cause they have a website. I know people who have starred in a movie and are going out for another, so its definetley always good to persue things. Im more of a stage person, but good luck in whatever you do. Oh, and the best advice for an audition is to be yourself, show everyone your personality dont be shy and definetley dont be afraid to be outgoing. Most casting directors look for people that others will want to work with. But dont go overboard with the personality either cause then you just come off as annoying.

Music is my life and if you have a problem with that go crawl in a hole and DIE!!!

I say be your own agent. There are ways to get your own connections. I"m my own agent, and I"ve been in tons of shows (okay 2 plays and one movie, but who's counting)
You can google auditions, like I do, or go onto craigslist.org and find your city. There you can serach the catagories for
tv/movies/film/
musicians
and a few other things that always need actors and singers.
I jsut got a part in a movie through there this week, so I know for a fact it works.

When you're first starting out, you don't need an agent - in fact, an agency won't represent you unless you've had some training and been in some s**t. However, there's only so much you can do without an agent, as most casting directors fill their audition sots through agencies.

When you do send you h/s and resume to an agent, though, make sure it's a legitimate one. You can usually tell by whether they charge you money. It is ILLEGAL for an agent to charge you anything until they book you a job (after which they get 10% - 20% of your paycheck from the jobs they get you). If anyone says you need to take THEIR acting class or get THEIR photographer to do headshots for you, chances are good that it's a setup. Just some things to watch out for...
