Chatper Two

"How the hell, how could you do that?" Foley growled astonished. "What can I say I have a big stomach," Bryan grinned leaning back. Foley shook his head flabbergasted. "Could have saved some for us," Rachael laughed glancing at him. "You knew he was going to do this didn't you?" Foley fumed red in the face, "why didn't you say anything?"
"We thought it would be best for you to find out for yourself," Matt explained a grin on his face. "Considering that the last person they told didn't believe them," Bryan laughed staring over at Foley. "Okay I know when I'm out numbered," Foley surrendered. "So how did the meeting go?" Bryan asked changing the subject. "Can you say one way flight to Germany?" Rachael smiled and almost laughed when Bryan nearly fell out of his seat.
"Quit pulling my chain you've got to be kidding," Bryan growled looking surprised. Rachael shook her head smiling wider as he brightened. "That's cool maybe I can have them teach me German," Bryan chirped rubbing his chin thoughtfully. Foley rolled his eyes they must seem like a couple of high school kids to him. "So Foley where do we meet up with our guide?" Matt asked clearing his throat.
"He's right here on the base all we have to do is go and get him," Foley murmured shaking his head at them. "Okay you and I will go and get him Bryan, Rachael you two start packing bags," Matt ordered a serious tone to his voice. "Sure things pops," Rachael teased getting up from the table. "I'll pack your things for you sir," Bryan grinned following her out of the mess hall.

"Those two are really good friends aren't they?" Foley whispered solamnly. "The best, just to let you know though Rachael isn't all that bad she just doesn't like to get hit on by someone she just met," Matt explained patting him on the shoulder. Foley frowned, was it that obvious? "Well lets get this over with," Matt sighed tilting his head. Foley nodded and led the way, god he need to learn to be more subtle.

"Please keep all unwanted items in a secure place before we take off," the flight attendant instructed. "Yeah like we've never heard that before," Bryan grumbled playfully swatting Rachael with his pack. "What do you care you never listen," Rachael laughed shoving his pack away. "Not true I listen when they talk about the free peanuts and the inflight movie," Bryan protested taking his seat. "That and you probably like flirting with the flight attendent," Zeacoe growled sticking on a pair of headphones.
Rachael shivered, something about him made her uncomfortable. If she had known that he would be the same guy from the air port she probably would have asked for a different guide. "Are you okay Rachael?" Bryan asked nudging her arm. "Of course I'm just excited," Rachael lied settling back into her seat. The floor underfoot began to vibrate as the plane began to take off.
"Can I get you folks anything?" the attendent asked leaning down. "Yeah a pillow for me and a gag for him," Rachael grinning pointing her thumb at Bryan. The attendent laughed and walked off down the isle. "Thanks Rachael I always wanted a gag," Bryan scoffed. As the attendent returned she hadned her a pillow and then turned to Bryan with a smile.
Rachael laughed looking at the white linen cloth in her hand. "Oh you two are a couple of comedians aren't you?" Bryan laughed taking the cloth. "Alright you two settle down," Matt murmured yawning. Rachael sighed and closed her eyes letting the noise subside into silence. She jolted up right as the plane jostled hitting turbulence.
Why did they always have to travel in a way that kept her from sleeping? Rachael stood up and headed for the back of the plane. The plane continued to rock and buck underfoot. Mostly everyone in the cabin was either sleeping or quietly reading. Rachael looked at the restroom sign, occupied.
Grumbling under her breath she headed bak to her seat. She looked down at her feet as she walked the sooner they reached Germany the better. Looking up Rachael groaned inwardly she hadn't even been away from her seat five minutes and someone had already taken her seat. "Okay pal move it or lose it," Rachael growled nudging the guy sharply on the shoulder. She stared at him he wasn't much older then she was with coppery hair, a muscular build, and a pair of intellegent blue eyes turned on her.
"Did you know that wolves are the only ones of their kind to have a humanoid counterpart?" he said staring at her. Rachael stare at him, what, what did that have to do with anything? "It was said a long time ago a small tribe of people turned to their gods seeking help," he smiled. "What the hell are you talking about/" Rachael growled feeling unsettled. "Afterward they cast aside their weapons and hunted in fur," he whispered his smile disappearing.
"What did you escape from an insane asylum?" Rachael hissed balling her fists. "We're here," he said a smile reappearing on his face. "What?" Rachael mumured confused. "Rachael wake up," Bryan growled shaking her. Rachael woke with a start striking out with her hand.
She opened her eyes as her hand hit something warm and soft. Bryan fell back his hand to his face. "Oh god Bryan I'm sorry I didn't mean to," Rachael gasped standing up. "No it's fine and nice hook by the way," Bryan laughed rubbing his cheek. Rachael blushed she had never struck him that hard before outside of sparring practice.
"Are you two coming or what? Zeacoe growled from the entry way. "Yes we're coming," Bryan growled irritably grabbing her pack, "we'd better go before he has an aneurysm." "What did you say?" Zeaco hissed taking a step back into the cabin. "Nothing," Rachael sighed following Bryan out.
"Better get a move on we want to be there before too late," Matt growled heading for an idling taxi. Rachael followed sticking her pack in the trunk and looked at Zeacoe. Who kept looking at Bryan as if trying to figure out what he had said on the plane. "You're sitting in the middle Bryan," Rachael growled looking uncomfortably at Zeacoe. Bryan said nothing but squeezed her shoulder reassuringly as he got in the cab.
Rachael smiled he must have noticed the way she looked at him. She followed him in buckling up for safety. Sitting back Rachael listened as Zeacoe gave directions in rapid German.Within moments they were on their way to the construction site of the old town. "So Zeacoe know any good car games?' Bryan asked leaning forward.
"As a matter of fact yeah I do," Zeacoe replied a smile curling his lips. "Really so what's the object of the game?" Bryan asked cocking his head. "To blow up as many cars as you can before you reach your destination," Zeacoe grunted staring out the window. Bryan's face paled noticably "but what about people, it sounds pretty risky." "Yeah well people are a bonus," Zeacoe laughed as Bryan there paler then ever.
"I'm kidding," Zeacoe laughed, "what kind of guy do you take me for?" Bryan relaxed looking over at her, she shrugged she couldn't tell if he was serious or not. Zeacoe pointed to the left guiding the driver. Bryan touched her hand making her jump. "Are you okay?" Bryan whispered looking concerned.
Rachael nodded even though the dream she'd had on the plane had unsettled her making her feel nervous. "That's it up ahead," Zeacoe said pointing through the windshield. Rachael looking out the window, finally she could get some time to herself. The driver pulled the car over to the side of an appartment building and grinded to a halt. Rachael quickly hopped out and waited for the driver to pop the trunk.
"You look exhausted even though you slept the entire way," Matt frowned sympathetically. "Surprisingly I feel that way," Rachael replied grabbing her pack from the trunk. "Things will look better in the morning," Matt promised grabbing his own pack. "Come on let's get settled for the night," Bryan yawned following Zeacoe to the office to get keys. He must have stayed awake the entire way here, Rachael thought noting the bags under his eyes.
Rachael waited quietly with Matt as they waited for the others. "Do you really feel that uncomfortable about Zeacoe?" Matt asked after awhile. She frowned she hadn't thought that he had noticed her discomfort. "Yes something about him doesn't settle right with me but I don't know what it is," Rachael murmured looking down at the ground. "Well hang in there this will be over before you know it," Matt smiled putting an arm aroundher shoulders and gently squeezing.
"Yeah nice warm beds to sleep in!" Bryan cheered racing up to them. "I see you guys got the keys," Rachael laughed at Bryan's enthusiasm. "Two rooms," Bryan grinned holding up a key. "I'll bunk with Zeacoe, you two can bunk with each other," Matt growled heading inside. Rachael silently thanked him for assigning bunk mates.
"Souns good to me," Bryan yawned grabbing her by the arm. "Okay I can walk you know," Rachael growled twisting free. "Sorry I know you don't like getting shoved around," Bryan murmured a frown on his face. "Don't be you're tired I understand even I am and I slept the entire way here," Rachael grinned looking at him. Bryan laughed as he unlocled their door.
Rachael playfully pushed him throught the door tossing her pack on the nearest bed. Bryan kicked his shoes off and flopped down onto the other one. She gagged at their smell as she sat down on the bed taking her own shoes off. "Don't forget to take off your glasses," Rachael growled struggling to get her left shoe off. "Bryan?" Rachael asked turning to look at him.
Rachael smiled and got up walking over to him she took his glasses off setting them on the nightstand. If she got a dollar everytime she took his glasses off she'd be a millionaire. Smiling she turned the light off and lay down. Closing her eyes she shuttered and opened them again remembering the conversation she had with that guy in her dream. Rachael shook her head this was ridiculous, why was she letting it bother her it was only a dream after all.
Rachael closed her eyes again and went to sleep knowing that tomorrow would be better.

I wanna know more!!! crying I love it!
Just so you know, you're meant to start a new line whenever a new person speaks. That's predominantly what I meant by lacking any semblance of proper format.
AHHHH okay I get it now. Thnx Dream I'll start using that in my writing. biggrin
The night was cool and clear. Frost lightly covering the blades of grass. Even with the coldness of the frost seeping through the seat of his pants he kept still. Watching, waiting for the occupants to turn off their light. As the light switched off he got to his feet.
He didn't care who these new comers were the only thing he had in mind was getting rid of the construction equipment. Checking to see if the coast was clear he headed over to the crane. Without it their progress would be slow. They may even get tired of his persistence and give up. This was fine by him as far as he was concerned the place was cursed.
Reaching the crane he slithered underneath looking for the gas line. Finding it he quickly severed it letting the liquid spill onto the ground with a quiet splash. Sliding bback out from underneath the crane he moved to the front tire and severed the break line. So far so good, he thought, they won't know what hit them. Last but not least the fan belt.
He climbed up into the seat and popped the hood listening intently to its soft pop. Jumping out of the seat he lifted the hood. Reaching in he grabbed the belt and pulled it loose. Then on a second thought quickly pulled the battery out. With both in hand he crept back into the shadows away from the construction site and away from the ghosts of the past.

"I'm going to kill the little b*****d when I get my hands on him!" Mikovsky screamed balling his fists.
"What's going on?" Rachael stepping out of the apartment.
"He struck again last night," Bryan explained with a half eaten bagel in hand.
'Really what he do?" Rachael murmured walking over to him.
"The crane, sabotaged the crane," a soft voice said.

Rachael jumped back as Bryan choked on his bagel.
"I'm sorry did I startle you?" she asked looking at him in surprise.
Bryan looked up at her and blushed "n I m in."
"I'm sorry what's that?" she frowned looking him up and down.
"He's fine just a little girl shy," Rachael laughed looking at her.She was built slimly with blond hair bright green eyes and a freckled nose that somehow screamed familiar to her.

"I'm not," Bryan muttered weakly shoving his bagel back in his mouth.
"Okay well allow me to introduce myself I'm Erica Smith I'm the on in charge here, if you have any questions just ask," Erica said smiling at her.
"I'm Rachael and this is Bryan," Rachael smiled waving her hand over at Bryan who stared at them.
"Nice to meet you," Erica smiled broadly extending a hand. Rachael shook her hand smiling as Bryan gave it a weak shake.

He didn't even make eye contact but his face went red at her touch. Rachael knew instantly what was going on with him.
"Your father is over there you might be leaving soon looking for our unusual guest," Erica imformed pointing at her father talking to some workers.
"Thank you," Rachael laughed as Bryan tripped over some lumber.
"You're welcome and it was nice meeting you, the both of you," Erica laughed smiling at Bryan.

Rachael grabbed him by the collar and hauled him to his feet.
"Looks like you've found yourself a love interest," Rachael teased glancing at him. Bryan groaned looking over his shoulder at Erica and blushed when she waved at him.
"Sir I understand you're frustrated but please try to control your anger," Matt sighed looking at the man.
"If you don't deal with him I will," Mikosky fumed red faced.

"Did anyone see him?" Rachael asked joining them but ignoring the other man.
"Jericho did he could help you," a worker informed grabbing a hammer.
"I can track him just fine," Zeacoe growled staring hotly at the worker.
"That maybe so but we're going to need someone who knows what he looks like or he could slip under the radar," Matt growled looking over at him.
"Shall I go and get him?" the worker asked ignoring Zeacoe's hostility.
"If you would be so kind," Matt murmured a little tiredly.

Rachael watched as the worker ran off in search of Jericho.
"Well you're certainly hot headed today aren't you," Rachael hissed at Zeacoe as she joined her fathers side. Zeacoe glared at her looking as if he wanted to say something.
"Wow he's short," Bryan mumbled cocking an eyebrow doubtfully. Rachael followed his gaze turning her back on Zeacoe.

Any shorter and he'd be none existing only standing at 4'9''. Rachael almost felt sorry for him but then again he probably had the attitude of a chihuahua.
"You must be Jericho," Matt smiled keeping a friendly tone extending a hand. Jericho nodded taking the hand. He has that deer in the headlights look, Rachael thought looking at the man.
"Yes I Jericho I help you find boy," Jericho nodded with stilted heavily accented English.

"Well we're happy to have your assistance," Rachael smiled shaking the man's hand.
"Okay, okay can we go now," Bryan grumbled glancing over at Erica. Rachael laughed he must feel really stupid after the way he had talked to her then tripping over the building supplies.
"Why not we've got supplies enough to last us a month," Matt smiled hiking his pack higher up on his shoulders as he looked at Bryan.
"Here Jericho take this with you," Erica smiled handing him a hammock and blanket.
"Thank you Miss Smith," Jericho smiled taking the offered supplies.
"Please be careful out there," Erica murmured looking at them, "the woods can be treacherous this time of year."
"We will and we'll make sure Bryan stays in one piece," Matt replied smiling at Bryan. Rachael frowned watching as Zeacoe headed off in the direction of the woods.
"Come on we'd better go, the sooner we get going the sooner we can get rid of him," Matt growled tipping his head torwards Zeacoe.

It seemed that Matt was a little irritated with Zeacoe's attitude. Rachael followed as he led the way wondering how long it would take to get him.
"Don't worry we'll be back to visit your girlfriend soon," Rachael smirked catching Bryan as he glanced back.
"I dont know what you're talking about," Bryan growled lifting his head defiantly.
"It's okay everybody like Miss Smith she nice," Jericho smiled dropping back to join them.

Bryan flushed slightly "she seemed really sweet but for some odd reason she reminds me of Foley." Rachael thought back blond hair, green eyes, no it couldn't be she was nothing like him. She was sweet and courteous he was prideful and arrogant. Rachael looked down at her feet watching the ground.
"So what do you think the guy will be like?" Bryan asked staring ahead.

"How would we know?" Rachael murmured rolling her eyes.
Bryan shrugged "just trying to make conversation."
Well don't, with you flapping your gums he'll know we're coming before we get anywhere," Zeacoe snapped from up ahead. Bryan stuck his tongue out at the back of Zeacoe's head.
"That was mature," Rachael murmured frowning.

Matt looked back at them disapprovingly seeming to agree with Zeacoe. Rachael quieted down turning her attention to the terrain. Mostly pine trees with spars undergrowth. The ground underfoot seemed to bounce covering rocks and small dips.Rachael looked over at Bryan as he let out a strenuous line of curses.

"Rock," Bryan cringed rubbing his toe. Rachael smiled sympathetically she herself had almost tripped over a rock or two. She looked up ahead to see Matt and Zeacoe waiting for them to catch up.
"Whoa pretty!" Bryan whistled looking out across the valley.
"Suns going down, we'd better make camp," Matt grinned looking up at the sky.

"Your vocabulary isn't very extensive is it," Rachael chuckled as they walked out into the valley.
"No big words are hard to say," Bryan grinned following her.
"Lets make camp at the other side of the valley," Zeacoe growled following a small animal trail. Matt and Jericho remained silent to awed by the sight.
"Imagine having to climb that," Bryan smiled tilting his head toward a large spur of rock jutting up from the land.

"Not a chance," Rachael snorted looking at him.
"Didn't think so," Bryan chuckled. Bryan suddenly looked down putting his hand on his stomach as it growled.
"Getting hungry lover boy?" Rachael teased smiling at him.
"Just a little and why do you always have to pick on me?" Bryan grumbled crossing his arms.

"Cant help it you make it so easy," Rachael grinned as they reached the far side of the valley. Bryan screwed up his face taking his pack off.
"Just think Bryan we get to eat canned food tonight," Rachael said tossing her pack down next to his.
"God help me," Bryan sighed taking a seat on a rock.
"You two better pitch your tents it's going to be dark soon," Matt ordered tossing his pack down next to theirs.

"Souns like a good idea to me," Bryan mumbled grabbing his tent.
"You're not going to get tangled up in the cords are you because I'm not rescuing you," Zeacoe growled hanging up his hammock.
"No but if I do I know Rachael will bail me out," Bryan growled as he went about setting it up.
"I will?" Rachael asked looking up from driving a stake into the ground. Bryan feigned a hurt look as he stood up to look at his handy work.
"The food will be ready in a few minutes," Matt called standing up next to a freshly made fire.
"I'll cook something for you if you want," Bryan smiled staring at her.
"Would you I'd appreciate it," Rachael smiled tiredly. Bryan hopped to his feet with a broad smile. Even though he wasn't the greatest cook and he knew it he enjoyed it anyway.

Rachael leaned back and watched the sun set as it set the sky ablaze.
"Here you are," Bryan grinned handing her a plate.
"Thanks Bryan," Rachael smiled taking the plate.
"Not a problem I think I'm getting the hang of it nothing caught on fire," Bryan laughed sitting down beside her.
"Well that's nice to know it makes me feel a whole lot safer," Rachael laughed eating potatoes and meat.

"Rachael why do you think he did it," Bryan asked chewing thoughtfully.
"What do you mean?" Rachael murmured glancing at him as she finished her supper.
"I mean what reason would he have for sabotaging their equipment, what's in it for him?" Bryan asked looking serious.
"I don't know," Rachael frowned looking at him. Bryan said nothing as he finished his own supper looking thoughtful the whole time.

"Hey you know what when we find him we can ask and afterwards maybe we can all be friends,' Rachael smiled handing him her plate.
"Really I hope so that would be great," Bryan smiled taking it.
"As for me I'm going to go to hit the sack," Rachael yawned crawling into her tent.
"Sleep tight and don't let the bed bugs bite," Bryan chuckled stifling a yawn.
"Hey Bryan?" Rachael called looking towards the door.

Bryan stuck his head in looking at her curiously.
"Don't snore or none of us are going to get any sleep," Rachael grinned sleepily.
"I'll try not to," Bryan grinned leaving her alone. Rachael curled up in her sleeping bag and closed her eyes. As a child she had always wanted to come here but then she had thought it would be on different circumstances.

As her mind grew hazey she vaguely remembering the dream from the plane. If this guy was one and the same from her dream she would kick herself, not that it would be. Falling asleep she dreamt of her mother and her life before that terrible night when everything changed.
